Pity the official one was lost. :(

I was not aware of this report until you brought it up on the French forums the other day. It's really interesting, and even contains the first official reference to Rayman as an eggplant – such references do date to the nineties, despite my joke last month! :fou:
The names for the seasons are strange, and there are probably many more like that in the Glade. Also, there seem to be at least nine months a season (but maybe the fact that there are two moons in the Glade is connected to the large number).
Globox's rain dance originating as a botched fire dance makes perfect sense! Yet another Globox moment, from deep in the annals! :hap: Also, I suppose the connections to released material are tenuous at best (given the old name for Razorbeard), but if he has 35 sons, the Rayman 2 manual then implies he has 615 daughters! Must be a lot more than just X and Y chromosomes going on there…
I wonder if "Oil Change" translates "vidange" here – in-game, it was translated as "dumping" instead, at the Sanctuary of Water and Ice…

Hey! I'm currently adding some Rayman 2 codes to the wiki and there are 2 codes from the Dreamcast version that were never discovered but that I suspect exist. This is the code to control Razorbeard in the end credits (like "SHOOTEMUP" on PC or Z + A + B on N64) and the code to access Menezis (again "SHOOTEMUP on PC and C-Left + the A + B on N64). I don't have any proof that they exist but since they are on the other versions I think they also exist on the Dreamcast version. Do you have any idea if they exist or how to find them? I tried to search with Raymap but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

I know that one doesn't work on 3DS for pressing the trigger to the Rayman 2 jingle to get full health, but this is because they mapped the buttons a little differently I guess.

I asked Robin, who works with raymap, and it seems the cheats are there but not mapped to any buttons, so probably just leftover data from the PC version.

Too bad, I would have liked them to be available on this version as well. It's the same for the references to Duke Nukem which are present on the PC version but can't be activated either. It's too bad they didn't make the codes available on all versions.

They must've have forgotten about them, I can't see why they would want to remove them anyway.

What exactly influenced the devs at Ubisoft Montpellier to retool and replace the setting and entire supporting cast of Rayman when making the sequel? Most 3D titles from around the time that were direct follow ups to previous 2D installments in a series would try to incorporate elements from the 2D entries into the new 3D one, but for Rayman it was practically a reboot of the series only after the first game.

I think it's just the style Ubisoft goes with. They like to come up with new ideas and make sure the game truly feels different from the previous one and not just like an update. Notice how every Rayman game has a totally different feel,
Heck, the only games that really feel fully connected to each other are Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.

Yeah none of the games really had a true connection, just mainly Easter Eggs. The only thing that even stands out to me which can somewhat link the first three games is the plum, and even then, it only appears in one Rayman 2 level, while it's usage in Rayman 3 wildly varies.

It's actually in three Rayman 2 levels, although in one of them it's only in a section that's accessed from one of the other two.

The Wiki says that the mystery of the big red guitar-playing character in the Tomb of the Ancients secret area was solved in 2020, that 'Jeff' said it was meant to be him. Does anyone have a link to him saying this or a thread from when this was discovered? I've always been intrigued by that, so pretty cool if it has been talked about finally!

Anybody ever noticed how Rayman 2 almost feels like an oddball in the grand scheme of the franchise and it’s various installments? Almost every other entry in the series has a wacky, comical tone, but Rayman 2 has a rather sad melancholic tone.

Yep. In L'Histoire de Rayman, it's explained that that's because they were working on Tonic Trouble at the same time, which was a really goofball production, so they wanted to differentiate them. Michel doesn't regret doing something more serious for Rayman 2, but it's not in keeping with the general style of the franchise.

I really wish that book got an English Translation. Seems like it’s full of interesting information.

It was supposed to happen, but the official effort seemed to fizzle out. Obviously full unofficial translations aren't allowed by copyright either. :?

Maybe we could add a reference for that? I suppose he was contacted on LinkedIn?

It looks broken.

In the end, it all boils down to that!
