Hello everyone. I would like to share something with you. When emshomar was browsing tracks on Rayman 1 Japanese disc, he came across sound file that seems like an opening for the game. However it is really different then the one that plays when you start the game.
Let's compare shall we? Here is the normal Japanese opening:
Now here is alternative one that I ripped from my PS1 ISO:
https://mega.co.nz/#!ilQmBLoI!Ry-Mr3z6R ... qZXL7xI5rg
As you can see, it is very different. Biggest difference is that Mr. Dark is not even mentioned in it. Instead, they just say that Great (in Japanese version Big) Protoon was stolen and that Rayman must retrieve it. Now, perhaps maybe a alternative video footage can be found on disc too if we browse files. Anyone who wants to search for it, here is the ISO:
http://narod.ru/disk/48462223001.571c3b ... D.rar.html
Also, here is a translation alternative version:
Here is a country (land) where Rayman lives.
People and creatures lived peacefully here.
This is because world balance and harmony were kept thanks to Big (Great) Protoon
But one day, because Big (Great) Protoon has been stolen, Electoons which went around the circumference lost stability and flown in the various places.
In a world where thus equilibrium is lost, strange things began to happen.
Dangerous monsters appeared, the monsters caught Electoons.
* Rayman help (can't translate this word sorry) from bad guys and must save Electones.
Match power together and must make the peaceful world again.
Can Rayman defeat bad guys?
Anyway, with courage, Rayman will hurl himself! (they meant to say he will hurl his fists)
* for this paragraph, my guess would be that they tried to say that he must retrieve Great Protoon from bad guys and save Electoons.

Re: Unused Rayman 1 Japanese Opening
Interesting how Mr. Dark is not mentioned at all. Sometimes I don't get why unused content wasn't used (*cough* Saturn level complete tune in PS1 *cough*) but I can see why this isn't used, although it is similar to the usual intro for the most part, I don't think Rayman hurling himself would make for a good gameplay feature

Hm, I though the Saturn used the same complete tune as the PC version, and the PS1 used its own, I'm misinterpreting, I'm sure, care to clarify?
Personally, I prefer the PS1 complete jingle.

Well the PC version just says "YEAH!" and moves to the next level. The PS1 version says "YEAH!" and plays some music and the Saturn version says "YEAH!" and plays some more advanced music. The thing is the PS1 version (my copy at least) contains the more advanced end theme from the Saturn as an ending theme as a CD track, and I find it strange how it was included but not used in the game as it is clearly better. I'm thinking that they used the PS1 one because the *ting* at the end synchronises with the flash of the teeth.Master wrote:Hm, I though the Saturn used the same complete tune as the PC version, and the PS1 used its own, I'm misinterpreting, I'm sure, care to clarify?

Hm, you sure you didn't mix them up?
Saturn Complete: http://youtu.be/23hmOqUnc30?t=1m33s
PS1 Complete: http://youtu.be/rzhySfNZyRI?t=1m13s
Only the PS1 version uses the "ting" at the end of the track, I believe that is the case for all the PS1 versions, as it was from that version that incarnation of the level end tune was ripped and put onto RayTunes, which itself also lists this more advanced form as "PS1 - Yeah!"
EDIT: Ah, wait, I get it now, when you refer to the Saturn version as being more advanced, it's because it uses music for the entire jingle, instead of sound effects. Personally, I don't like the Saturn incarnation, and I'm glad they use the one with the "ting."

The japanese playstation version of Rayman 1 has the complete Yeah!
Re: Unused Rayman 1 Japanese Opening
I can confirm there is no extra video for it on the Japanese files, they just put the raw audio file on there for no particular reason. There's nothing new apart from that.
In-game or just on the disc? The normal version has it on the disc as well.emshomar wrote:The japanese playstation version of Rayman 1 has the complete Yeah!
