Rayman Dictées

Post by Eshap »

Image

After 4 years of holding back on this, I will be making another attempt to record some better footage of Rayman Dictées- the obscure misfit of the Rayman Edutainment games. I know it's not the most interesting of the Edutainment series, but considering it is one of the few 3D Rayman games outside of the main series/Rabbids, as well as one of the few to include humans, I thought it was worth sharing to those who find amusement in these kinds of games. fucking french with rayman
And, before more people ask: No, I am not distributing the ISO. Unlike French with Rayman, this game is not the least bit rare and can be found on many French websites.

What the hell is Dictées?
Rayman Dictées is a France/Canada-exclusive series of games made to teach language skills. In comparison to other Edutainment titles made by Ubisoft, the age range for Dictées is at a slightly higher level- in the case of 6ème, it's 11-12 years. It is one of the few games outside of the main series (1, 2, 3, Rabbids?) to be in 3D and one of the only games to include human characters. After further investigation, however, I found that the human characters actually originate from a Ubisoft title called "Tim 7". Little to no information can be found on that game, though I guess this makes Dictées a strange crossover of sort.

Redone introduction [Translations 3/4 finished]:

I'll post Clara's Story once I've re-entered the translations.

So, uh. What are your thoughts on this? Anyone?

Turns out I didn't get the story translated. If anyone is willing to help me out with leftover translations, I'd be really grateful.

I'm French and I have the game, so I can help you. :)

Do you want another translation of Rayman's lines or just a translation of Clara's speech?

Wow, that's great! :D Thank you so much.

I already had Rayman's lines translated by someone else, but French wasn't his native language, so you're welcome to translate it if you have the time/want to. :D

And here's the translation.
Be careful, there are cerainly some mistakes. My English isn't perfect. :)
Tell me your opinion.

Rayman's first line

Many options are proposed to you. Choose what you want to do. But before, if you have any questions, click on me, and I’ll try to answer to you.

Why the others are immobilized?

You should ask this to Clara. Click on her and she’ll explain everything to you.

What can I do?

You can help me to repair the Télévox if you dive inside with me. Inside, you’ll find the texts that Tim 7 recorded. If, after listening, you manage to rewrite the original texts and to fix the Télévox, Clara will cancel the spell that she has casted on Amnesia inhabitants.

I don’t know how to use my keyboard correctly.

For this, I have an infallible method. Train yourself on my old typewriter. That’s perfect to warm up fingers.

Clara’s story

The first troublemaker, that’s him! Gaaf thinks he’s a brain specialist.

A kind of modern wizard, probably...

Looking for a new subject for his experiments...

... he found Tim, who had lost his memory after an accident, at random.

So he didn’t hesitate to kidnap him on our island.

Luckily, most of Gaaf’s experiments were harmless.

And Tim didn’t suffer of his captivity for a long time. We, the inhabitants of the island, we became his friends, and we did everything to help him to foil Gaaf’s plans.

Tim lived amazing adventures on the island. So Sam created a machine for him, to record his memories. That’s the Télévox. You can see it in the center of the photo.

After many months of effort, Tim progressively recovered his memory, and he finally managed to leave the island.

That evening, to comfort everybody, I organized a supper.

But when they arrived, they all dashed for the Télévox, to see Tim again.

Then, I heard Landra’s cries, Patrick’s screams, Gaaf’s oaths and whatever else...

During the bustle, somebody broke the Télévox. We can still hear Tim’s voice, but we can’t see his texts, or his beautiful drawings, or his image. What a waste!

And as they were still in dispute over the machine, I quickly casted a spell to avoid that they break everything.

Holy crap, you did brilliantly with those translations! I can only pick out a few small "off" parts- the rest is pretty darn good English! :D Thank you so much for all your help.

I'll make a few small corrections and put them in as soon as possible- of course, I'll give you credit you for them. :)

You're welcome. :)
I like translation. It's one of my hobbies.
If you have any questions on the game or if you need another translation, ask me.

Good to see you are bringing this game back! It is impossible for me to do a walkthrough since this is really for French natives. :oops2:

I still remember when I found this on the internet by accident and showed it in RPC.

Ach, I dunno how much more of the game I can bring back. Though, I found a clip of what sounds like Rayman's VA speaking in a normal voice... That's kinda the most interesting thing in the game, it seems. I don't have much French knowledge, so I doubt I will ever complete the game. Shame, since I'd be interested to see how the game ends...

What's wrong with buying a game every once in a while? We don't need ISOs of every Rayman game in existence.

I have to disagree. In my opinion there should be Rayman ISO's thread and when I have more spare time I will actually start that project.

I do buy games 90% of time but I can't find this one.

I got my copy from a seller on Amazon.fr who allowed for international shipping and I've seen quite a few copies of Dictees on eBay. Although they may not be 6eme, I'm pretty sure they all share the same storyline. It's truly not a hard one to find- especially when you consider much rarer titles, such as French with Rayman and the R3 demo.

I'm not trying to be an anti-ISO freak or something, but these copies aren't really expensive, either. Good to show at least some support to sellers, no?

You make a good point, although I must say I for some reason thought this game was expensive. I will see if I can get it on french eBay since I don't like Amazon until they don't add PayPal as option for paying.

If you have any trustful friends in country PriceMinister ships to, you may can afford the Dictées games for a cheap price just here:
http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/ ... eu-Pc.html

Oh and look, there is one selling a brand new copy that comes with a Rayman pen:

Or else you need to look under Leboncoin.fr

Actually, the educational Rayman games aren't costy (unless you are really looking for the most obscure ones in their original editions) but personally, investing in his educational titles is not on my plans.

I would like to ask someone to purchase something from priceminister and ship it to me when it's the right moment since they don't support my current location but I don't know anyone who would like to waste their time and help me with purchases. Last time I asked one person on eBay for similar help, he wanted 30% profit.

Really? Thanks :D
I will send you the price of the game on PayPal when I plan on buying it (I am not in a rush and you don't have to purchase it right away if you have money left). I just hope you wont ask for 30% profit.
