Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
If observe few levels, few characters and few fights like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6oaaJOXHJc it seems that the game is the same of Rayman 3 for console.
But then Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge is the effective sequel of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc or simply the sequel of just GBA version of Rayman 3 and therefore shows on GBA what we have already seen two years before on GC, PS2, XB and PC?
Motivated your answers please, is really unclear concept.

Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
It's a sequel to Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, there's going to be some similarities, as with any sequel.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
Ok, thank you Master.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
Hoodlums's Revenge can be considered as a Rayman 3,5 since its plot clearly happens after the events of Hoodlum Havoc. Globox has got a nightmare of that day that he swallowed André. When Globox awakes, André's spirit possesses his body and ocasionally controls Globox's body and mind. His new goal is to bring the Hoodlums army back and to "revive" Reflux by creating a living clone that is plum juice powered. It isn't something really relevant to the series understanding, making it a spin-off that can be perfectly skipped. I hope my description was a help.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
I never considered Hoodlum's Revenge as a main canon to be honest.
Before Origins, I saw Handheld games and Console games as a two seperated things, because it is clear that GB titles change some things. Hoodlum's Revenge is a sequel but still, main problem bothering me is that André was spirit, yet at the end of R3, Rayman's hands scare Lum so André was normal again which is probably why was he planned to appear in Raving Rabbids Prototype.

Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
I guess it's a matter of one's own personal canon, I don't really pay much attention to the handheld spin-offs myself, but as things stand, Hoodlum's Revenge doesn't seem to have anything that would render it less likely to be canon. On the matter of Rayman 3's ending, I'm pretty sure it was actually a flashback, but my memory might be faulty.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
I watched ending recently so I have fresh memory of it, and nothing seemed like a flashback to me (then again, I am only saying how I saw it not that it is a fact). After Globox says he misses Amdy, Rayman wonders what could possiy scare lum and they sleep. Then, moon is shown and then to me it seems more like they fast forward to some time later, and it is shown that Rayman's hands are scaring Lum who becomes André. Whenever that was meant to be past or future is not very well said.

Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
Indeed, though how do you know the moon isn't moving backwards? Remember that Rayman 3 began during a similar period of time as well.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
This depends, because if we talk about Rayman, Rayman 2 The Great Escape and Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc have had their respective releases both on consoles than on portable consoles. It isn't something really relevant to the series understanding, making it a spin-off that can be perfectly skipped. I hope my description was a help.I never considered Hoodlum's Revenge as a main canon to be honest.

In the case of Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge and Rayman Raving Rabbids (the original concept) are simply exclusive for Game Boy Advance. Also because in these last years Ubisoft has always favored more Nintendo target (also for contractual reasons), then I say that they is not properly exact to considered or say that game on consoles and on portable consoles are separate things.
What was the original concept of Rayman Raving Rabbids? If had it not been released exclusively for the Game Boy Advance would have remained only in the pictures of the concept-artworks, but thanks to this exclusive release we could enjoy the last title of Rayman series in Platform style before the publication of Rayman Origins.
Same goes for Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge, if Ubisoft had planned a sequel of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc, but exclusively for the Game Boy Advance, this does not mean that it is to considered only a simply spin-off or is by belittle, it is simply an exclusive. A bit like Rayman M that is an exclusive for PlayStation 2 (if we exclude the PC version) or as yet Super Mario that is a Nintendo's consoles exclusive.
For this reason I'm sorry when I see that Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge and the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids are not included by the same fans in the main series while making clearly part. But on this aspect RPC has given me reason, as you can see: https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Rayman_(series)
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
@OCG I'm sure it is a flashback. Listen carefully in the blackout: http://youtu.be/BLZpW3Gl71c?t=52m
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
I swear I did not hear "Rayman! Quick! Wake Up!" when I played it on my PC, and PS2 Korean version did not even dub over that part. Well, that is pretty much confirmation for me that it is indeed flashback.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
For some reason this is not played when you are playing the game normally, but it does plays if you see the cinematic in the same section of the game.
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
That explains why I did not hear it
Re: Doubt about Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge?
The final sequence of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc is not a sequel representation, but simply a flashback (as you can understand by the two moons who come back during the movie) that explain at the ending of game how it was generated André.

She's referring to the "Rayman! Wake up!" line heard at the end of the flashback in Rayman 3's final cutscene. It doesn't play if the cinematic is playing due to defeating Reflux, it only plays when you review the cutscene via the cutscene viewer from the pause menu.

Ah, okay! That's what I thought, but that didn't seem to be what was happening in the video. I can't believe I never realised that was there through the years...

Likewise, I've played the game through completely many times, yet I too was unaware of this shred of dialogue. Makes one wonder what goof caused such an omission in the first place.

I think the game skips to the credits too fast, and it omits the line as a result. Try to compare the two situations and you'll notice.Master wrote:Likewise, I've played the game through completely many times, yet I too was unaware of this shred of dialogue.
