Hello I'm Multimagyar but call me Multi I'm new here >_>
You may not know me at all. If you do then it's probably because of Deviant art... ^^'

For those who don't want to read or see the pictures before they see the product.

Anyway

Obviously Rayman.

Small history about this project.

I've started this game in 2009 I think? in Game maker 7 And well let's say that "put it on hold" multiple times.
Sometimes because of studies sometimes because of lack of resources and I was
somewhat shy to ask for help. (Yet now I'm here writing a post. help...)
I used the engine to make a silly game with a silly story it was... Well... Bad.
So I made a decision to try to make better which in the same year as the other version came out,
Turned out much better and less buggy. These versions can be found on Yoyogames sandbox.
after that version I have disappeared from this "Rayman world" for 3 years when not to mention
I did upload the engine's source code after I did not really cared about it. In 2012 because of a request
from one of my friend. In that state I did not touch the code since 1 and a half year.
In 2013 I was watching videos of Rayman fangames then I saw something I never ever though about.
Someone actually used the source code I made. How could I tell? Well the derpy snow particle system,
and some of the bugs I recognized. After that I joined another Rayman fan forum where I found the person.
Then pretty much after that I started to work on the engine for another year then studies and other projects
came. So it was on hold for 6 months again I think? Not sure that's about this.

The game now in progress with Game Maker: Studio

I would like to credit a few people
Terminapor, I used a few resources I could decompile from a sprite viewer he made.
Mostly Rayman and the clone the tall goblin, the stone man, that is in progress of reanimation,
The gray fonts, stone dog sprites those also in progress and a few other thing.
I also would credit this forum for some of the background I could find here and use.
I don't want to make a big argue about it. And I wrote down a name
"Preston N. Smith" to give credit for I have no idea why but yeah have it.
Red hot stone based on a level I saw on youtube made by "Сергей Ушаков"
apparently, the level called Red Hot Rocks.
raymanni for a lot of resource I got from him, and the minion that's attack animation wait for
some rework.
and Ubisoft have the copyright.

If I forgot someone or something I will edit it. But now, about the game.

when I finish it, I will upload the source codes. that's for sure. <_<

The game will feature most of the powers that Rayman had, feature a few new animation,
or entirely reanimated animations, for Rayman and for a few character. A few still missing.
I'm not sure if it's "TIME" or not but either way I can't say it won't worth. it I have 2 testers
around me, they helped me a lot, but they cannot encounter all the bugs that new players
can easily. It also feature a few skins that you will be able to use, or trough the source code you can block them,
when it's ready.

I build the source code in a way people will be able to make a singleplayer story game out of it, But the final version I'll upload will be
more likely a Rayman Designer or gold edition. (also comes with level editor later)
Also the music and sound import won't be available for a long time as I see since Studio does not support it. So for now it's in the executable
I still looking for a better option. This is also a reason why there's no option YET to change sound and music volume.
Game maker studio also broke the way the menu looks when you pause the game.

Amm.. tell me if you found a bug, where happened, how it happened, and if it's an error that shown, then post it so I can fix it.

Note I'm satisfied with the walking animation for it but not the attack. I didn't see it's that jumpy when it was in the editor I made for the animating.

edit: okay I might have forgot to activate 2 different abilities on two different level which makes them impossible. For now, because I don't want to immediately upload a fix because of 2 levels if you press enter and then type "raypower" while game is in progress you unlock all abilities. Since the version I uploaded is already a bit focused to the designer style, you do not carry your abilities.

edit2: Sorry for the inconvenience. I forgot to write this as well... derp... :fou2:

Have fun with it. As I said a few post earlier there is a problem with two levels and for some reason an issue to load the plum sprite that I'll fix as soon as it's possible with also adding a few more level.
RibShark wrote:Please release the engine source code (gmx files). Would benefit us loads!
As I mentioned earlier in the 2longnoread first comment I'll do release the source after it has an IMO stable version, although earlier versions still can be found on the internet but that's GMK means Game Maker 8.0 so I consider the source intrust worthy to work with it since I don't really support the version anymore. But I'll do help people that going to use the engine.

The reason for now why there's no update to fix this small problems for now is the fact I have my last 2 final exam soon so that got a bit of a bigger priority than gaming or programing in general. Or art. I know it's only like changing 2 variable to fix the levels and maybe 1 line of code to fix the plum, But after next week I'll fix all the issues that has been found in the engine, and will be able to add more features.

Thank you, and have fun if you try it. :)
Master wrote:Hmm, I've got a whole holiday after exam season, might as well have something to tinker with.
Might have been a good idea to include the map editors I made to work with include already in this version and make the level selection already a similar way Rayman Designer have.

Edit: I have uploaded a video. Can be found in the first post or here: video link

It looks pretty cool to see various aspects from all the key Rayman games return with the difficulty of Rayman 1 and using its artstyle. I'd like to see a full-blown game be born out of this!

I second that, but the question is, who'd make it?

Well pretty much anyone I guess since the game will be open source, anyone can work with it. But you still will have to include credits for the use of hand-made assets like the power ups or enemies. But after I'm done I think yeah pretty much anyone.

Oh, here I was thinking it would be you making a game out of it!
Well, it's very cool nevertheless.

Does anyone remember that project where you had the Yin-Yang balls from Picture City actually become fightable enemies? That looked fun too.

Excuse me if I not gonna make a story out of the engine I built, I kinda already working on a slightly more powerful engine for myself beside this Rayproject. Well that's not Rayman so it's no way related to this community that's also another story at least my exams are over so I can work more on this project. I Hopefully the next update what I'll throw out might be a big pack of bug fix for the game and probably comes with the level editor if I feel like it's ready to use as much as I want.
Besides this. Ooooh Terminapor I wounder where is he and what is he doing now. He did say he going to rebuild the entire Rayman engine he made again. I didn't hear about him since 2013 I think. He was also working on a school project. Oh well he'll might be more active sooner or later.
Welp enough nostalgia. I go back to "work".

Is it normal to see weird horizontal lines while moving?
