Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?

Post by Haruka »

Since we are a gaming community, I thought it would be an interesting question to make. Do you bother to complete a game at 100%? Do you really do everything? Do you simply go until where you want and then stop?

Discuss.

For me it really depends on how challenging the task ahead of me is, and what reward I will get for reaching 100% (unless I am tricked into thinking something amazing will happen, like in J&D...)

Anyway I prefer games like R3 where there is no set finishing point :P

Only if I like the game enough, so I voted "only if it's worth it". Because an excellent game is generally worth 100%'ing in my eyes. There are exceptions though. I love FFXIII, but I gave up on getting the Treasure Hunter trophy, because it was just too monotonous after while. On the other end of things, Sonic '06 is actually my least favourite game of all time - yet, I got all of the achievements in it. However, I did this as a 12 year old, when I was not so critical of games.

Likewise, I only really go for 100% if I really want to, for some games, the effort required is just too much or just too out of reach for me to be invested in the task.

I'm no gamer, but I definitely tried to 100% every single game I've had in the past! Well, only if it sustained my interest for long enough. I'm a perfectionist.

For me it also really depends of the games and if I'm interested enough to do that effort. If I like the game and I think that I can go longer, I try to complete it. If it is a game that it doesn't really grab me I either just do the essencial thing (which is reaching the credits roll). Then there are games I don't complete at all because they are really not worth it and the reasons also vary.

Definitely complete only if it's worth it. Most games I will complete the story for, because I feel bad if I've gotten halfway through a game's story and gave up, but if it's especially good like for example Batman: Arkham City, then I will attempt to 100% it to the best of my ability. But Arkham City has 440 Riddler trophies to acquire, all hidden away behind a small puzzle. I'm sure I'll keep coming back to it to do a couple every so often though. It's a nice time sink.

IGI 1 at 100%

Rayman 2

Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising.

And... what else...

Star Wars, all of them. (Never finished Unleashed at 100%)

I only 100% a game if it's worth it, like Rayman 1 because you have to in order to get to the last level.

I try to get 100% in any game I play, I like playing the game to it's fullest. There are exceptions of course, but if it's easy to get, I have no problem. A part of it also has to do with the fact that I love collect-a-thons.

I think I cared about getting 100% much more when I was a kid (PS1 games like Crash Bandicoot come to mind). These days I just play for fun, which doesn't necessarily mean getting the 100%.

I only go for 100% if the game is fun enough to keep me interested long enough to get 100%

Also, as long as the post game stuff isn't so difficult to complete it actually becomes a chore. KH does that to me. It's a lot of fun, but then you get to the post game activities and most of them are just annoying.

I usually go full 100% unless it is too much effort to get it fully, then I usually just go for as high a completion as possible.

Really depends which game. I like 100%-ing game only if it is worth.
Rayman games, Crash games (except Twinsanity) and such are great example for 100%

I also would complete a game to 100% if it is the worth really worth. I would not 100% Sonic 06 for instance :P

For me the one Crash game I don't think I will ever 100% is the first game. I just can't stand the bonus stage and gem system. :(
