I don't even think it's a good game to begin with to be honest.

I only ever played the demo a few times and it got old real quick for me I'm afraid.

First, try to avoid double posting: editing is better to show people something they might have missed.fuck wrote:guys y u no usually comment right here
Second, trying to maintain interest into a thread by posting a second time in only 9 hours is not going to change everything: I don't think it would go down so quickly into the new messages category as it was fairly recent. It's only going to make things worse as people won't like the fact you are trying to impose the topic you just created, especially since most members are europeans and were sleeping during the period between your two comments (1 AM - 9 AM). Moreover, doing it with your current nickname is not going to help too.
I don't want to be offensive, but it could lead to moderators locking your topic if you don't pay attention to your attitude...

FNaF is probably the least scary horror game I have ever played. I, in complete honesty, cannot comprehend how anyone could piss themselves over this game, when it doesn't even come one tenth as close to being as eerie as Courage the Cowardly Dog, a children's cartoon, and has jumpscares cheesier and more predictable than those in Dead Space. Like really, maybe I'm missing some part of my brain here that's supposed to react to horror in a certain way, but holy hell, this game is about as thrilling as a game of peekaboo. Also, the gameplay is so-so.
Play fucking PT, people, that came out at the same time and is way, way better. It's also free.

Free? That's way too much for my budget.

Re: Five nights at freddy's
Five Nights a Freddy's uses a formula that only works if you have a certain susceptibility to a particular form of horror: jumpscares. As the game is quite literally a jumpscare machine, the magnitude at which you'll be scared by the game will vary greatly. Since you've told me in the past that psychological horror works much more effectively on you than jumpscares, then it's unsurprising that you would find Five Nights at Freddy's to be incredibly cheesy and stupid, as that's entirely what it's based off of. However, I do think that, for this reason, calling it the "scariest game of 2014" is absolutely ridiculous, especially since PT uses a formula that works much more universally.Adsolution wrote:\FNaF is probably the least scary horror game I have ever played. You can see this in practice if you watch Markiplier's and Jim Sterling's Let's Plays of the game. While Markiplier found the game to be exciting and innovative (actually preferring it to PT), Sterling found the game to be a shittier, less complex version of Night Trap, both perspectives being completely understandable.
Eh, I disagree. While Five Nights at Freddy's formula will only work on certain players, there's no doubt that the formula was still innovative and exciting, using mechanics that make the game a lot more fun in practice than you would think conceptually. I personally find it to be almost a fun little puzzle, since while I don't find the game all that scary, one of my favorite things to do into games is to work out different strategies to allow me to become better at the game, and Five Nights at Freddy's is basically tailored around that very thing. Scary or not, it's fucking fun.Adsolution wrote:Also, the gameplay is so-so.

Re: Five nights at freddy's
I was comparing it to other games/media it shares its horror tropes with. Dead Space, for instance, is a horror game that relies mostly on the jumpscares tactic and has a similar atmosphere (obviously less goofy), but all in all isn't very scary at all for a jumpscare-centric game; I found FNaF to be even less scary than Dead Space.technology4617 wrote:Five Nights a Freddy's uses a formula that only works if you have a certain susceptibility to a particular form of horror: jumpscares. Re: Five nights at freddy's
I've never played it, but I've watched plenty of people play it on YouTube. I think it's a bit creepy/scary, but nothing too major. Maybe it's a different story if you're actually the one playing it. - Probably.

Re: Five nights at freddy's
all right its been a while since i posted but...well...lets say that i kinda like FNAF...mostly for how it makes the plot, the plot behind the play is actually kinda simple but interesting, and the way that the animatronics work, each act in their way and there is a specific tactic for each,i think that what actually makes the game scary is the immersion, sure it gets tedious quick, unless if you play on harder difficulties, which you are basically trying to survive, which is another good thing about it,it can be one heck of a challenge, and once again, thanks to the Ai of the animatronics, but i will admit that the game is boring at the start and the jumpscares arent even scary, for me,jumpscares will never be scary, just annoying and bothersome,i understand that its supposed to be punishment but dammit,it breaks the immersion of the game

Re: Five nights at freddy's
I've been on the fence about what I think about the story of the game, but if was essentially the intention of Cawthon, I will consent that it's excellent.
Also, lol at the first minute-and-a-half.

Re: Five nights at freddy's
The reason fnaf 2 was released in 2014 instead of 2015 was because scott cawthon was afraid people would forget about and released early and made the price 7.99 and it was a huge cash grab
Re: Five nights at freddy's
So in other words, Scott was moneyhungry. Either way, even if he released it in 2014, there was no reason to rush for FNaF 3. He could have waited 2016 for that one.
