for me it's definitely Sonic Heroes (yeah for some reason sonic is a returning topic lately...) because while it had slippery controls and 4 teams that were almost the same in terms of playstyle, It had great level desgin and worlds that standed out from the rest, I also liked the return of metal sonic in that game.

The homing attack chain at the end of Mystic Mansion would like to have a word about that.
In all honesty, I did like many aspects of Heroes, but there's also quite a few things that really made some parts rather unpleasant.

It may be adequate to put Mass Effect 3 in this discussion. Everybody hates it, I don't. Of course the ending could have been better and I have my own personnal "OC-do-not-steal" ending, but I thought the writing was stellar up to the end of the Rannoch arc and the DLC was breathtakingly amazing in terms of enriching the universe (contrary to ME2 where it's just "other Shepard sidequests"). The mechanics were improved to be more like an RPG and the gameplay was still very tight.
Mass Effect 2 is still the best, but ME3 is not that lagging that far behind.
