Are you afraid of heights?
Do you like the experience of being high in the air, or do you have a fear of heights? (Roller coaster, airplane, etc.)
For me, not really. I'm not scared of riding on a thrilling roller coaster ride. I've never been on an airplane though, and I'm not 100% comfortable about being on one.

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
I haven't got a fear of heights per se, but I do have a fear of feeling like I could fall to my death (obviously).
So if I'm in a roller coaster, no matter how high, I can't feel scared because I know they've been rigorously tested and the harness is always so tight there's no feeling of danger.
The pirate ship ride is totally different though; even though you don't actually go that high and it doesn't move that fast, I always find it by far the most thrilling ride because you get that fleeing of free falling where your stomach is pressed into your back. Not only that but the "harness" is just a loose bar and it genuinely feels like you could slip out at any moment.
Anyway, if I'm on a high up podium or something and I don't have good footing then it's scary, but if I'm climbing a tree there's always something to hold on to so it doesn't feel scary no matter how high you go.

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
Yes -- of heights and of depths (e.g. open sea). I am not a good person to take to an amusement park since half of the attractions are terrifying to me.
It's kind of weird how that translates to video games too -- it makes me very uncomfortable when my character is high above the ground and starts falling with the camera looking down (but not always -- it's weird that I don't have it now that I'm playing Gravity Rush of all things).
I've never been on an airplane but I don't think I'd have it too badly there as long as I don't stare down through the window.

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
I'll say noe, since I'm comparatively not I guess? I find it fairly easy to shut off my height fear, like this one time I sometimes refer back to where we were climbing the 200 foot tall Mayan pyramiddles and everyone was crawling shaking with the rope, but I was running up the damn thing fullspeed. and this other time when i was younger and i was ducking around next to this small cliff and fell off and landed on barnacles
The higher the rollercoaster, the better. heightfear is 9bviously intrinsic to all humans, and for me it's like one of those adrenaline rushes i can't get enough of (which is pretty normal for many people and instinct)
planes really dont cause heightfear (for those of you wove never been on), because you're moving so fast when you take off that everything outside looks legitimately artificial, the sense of scale is thrown offf completely. above a certain point the fear of height goes away for that reason, because the instinct sort of requires a progressive point of reference of increasing depth (eg looking down the side of a tall building) or parallax based off your own movement

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
I had an airplane ride plenty of times.
At first it was something a little frightening to me but then later on it was not really a big deal to me anymore.
However, I never rode a roller coaster before and I am not really 100% comfortable about being on one of those things.
I think I have Acrophobia. I can still remember when I was about 5 years old, I had many dreams about myself; falling from a great height and as soon as I hit the ground, I wake up from the dreams. They freaked me out.

This is a fear that I have as well.Ambidextroid wrote:I do have a fear of feeling like I could fall to my death (obviously).

I'm not afraid of heights. I feel a mild discomfort when I'm really high up and look down, but I can shut that feeling down pretty fast.Elirxys wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2017 8:03 pm Similarly to Ambidextroid, I only feel uneasy when I'm looking down from the best online bingo sites a height and might actually fall to death. :c

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
I've always been terribly afraid of heights, but it never applies to aeroplanes or other aircraft, such as gliders. Whenever on the roof of any building, no matter how low, I become paralysed with fear, for reasons I can't explain. I've never been afraid of flying, only of tall buildings and such.

I think I used to be (not a lot, only a bit), but I live in high floor now so it's normal.

Bump.
Kinda, but not really. If anything, it's kinda fun just floating in the air. Now if I was on some high rise somewhere like really high up in a life-threatening situation, that might be a differnet story...

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
Terrified. I get vertigo and everything and being up really high makes me instantly get horrible vertigo (very dizzy) and feel like I'm going to fall. I just duck down to the ground/floor if I look down from a huge height. I've even had nightmares when I was younger about falling but I woke up panicking each time mid-fall.
I have no shame in admitting it. I usually get vertigo anyway but that makes me even more afraid that I'm going to fall from up high. It's almost like the ground is moving underneath me if you know what I mean. That's quite scary to feel that way while looking at a fall that can easily kill you

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
In 5th grade my class went on an end-of-year field trip to SeaWorld, and a few of my friends and I began our day there by going on the Manta ride. As we were waiting in line, I was so scared but I didn't want to look like a chicken to my friends so I went on with them and I didn't regret my decision. I had a blast on that ride, rode it like 3 more times and overcame a fear of being high up in the air. I still get a little concerned, but it's not to the point where I can't go on a roller coaster ride.

Oh yes. Every time I look down I imagine someone pushing me down and that I will fall to the floor.
Well, thankfully it didn't happen and it was just my imagination, though looking down always scares me.

Re: Are you afraid of heights?
I could go on something like a roller-coaster as in I know that's staying on the track but anything I know there's a chance I could fall from I get bad vertigo and my legs just give.
People probably think I'm a chicken now but I can't help it, my body just goes dizzy and weak from a height. I don't want to fall and be killed
Edit: Also the nightmares I had about falling, they aren't nice
However, the high that Harpic referred to, I thought that tyoe of high was really funny the night on holiday when I smoked weed
You can't blame me for trying to have a bit of fun though, which I did

I've had those kinds of dreams before too where I would feel like I'm infinitely falling and when it ended I felt like I hit the ground really badly and it gave me a sensation through my body which felt like I smashed the ground.Steo wrote:Edit: Also the nightmares I had about falling, they aren't nice
