I had this really cool visualisation regarding the Universe last Summer which changed the way I looked at things a bit - It goes without saying to some degree, but I love the idea of picturing everything as a field of rippling photons, leaving behind an infinite trail of history. If you were able to step back into the fourth dimension (invoking string theory) to observe ours, represented in a single point in time in physical space, that would be the single most organically beautiful thing to behold.

Today I learned the topic name is a subreddit.

I wonder if I should change body wash scents (Axe body wash).

I formed a theory once in the shower that due to our ability to use language, education has pretty much replaced evolution in humans.
Almost every conscious organism needs to know certain things to survive, of a varying degree of complexity. Until language, pretty much the only way for this vital information to be passed down to offspring was through instincts which develop through evolution over millions of years. Humans are able to skip this arduous process by just teaching their offspring an incredibly wide range of things through language.

This got me thinking about how much we've evolved since the dawn of language (probably not much?), and also made me realise just how "fragile" our entire intelligence is. Imagine if, for a single generation (let's say 100 years to be safe), it was impossible for humans to communicate with one another. No children would be able to be taught anything, and once the 100 years were over its likely that anyone who knew any language is now dead. It would pretty much entirely reset human civilisation, we would basically be primitive animals foraging for food and by the time a new language and a somewhat advanced civilisation develop, everything that humanity has built will probably be a wasteland. In the far future this new civilisation would look back at any remaining books or record of our progress but by the time our languages are "cracked" this civilisation will probably already be pretty civilised (think about how much we're still trying to piece together ancient languages today from pieces of old rock, and still they can't be learned fluently).

Everything we know and the whole basis of our civilisations is basically passed on through word of mouth, and a single generation without that information would reset everything. Weird.

My dad thought of the same! Nice! :)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've thought the same thing too, in the same context.

I don't like thinking when I'm in a shower because every time I go in, I always think that there will be something else thatcomes out of theshower head rather than water. (shivers).
Always be true to yourself.
