Rayman 3 GBA Bonus Worlds

Post by FAB »

Has anyone unlocked the Bonus worlds in R3 (gba version) by connecting their gba with R3 on the gamecube? I really want to know what these stages are like. And i also wish someone would post them on youtube or something.

There are. I think there are ten or so, you download them from the Gamecube to the GBA and they last until you turn the GBA off. I don't know anything about them, but I think they're supposed to be really difficult.

For every 100 lums you get, you'll unlock a bonus world. There are 1000 lums in the whole game, so you can unlock ten bonus stages.

I don't have the bonus worlds themselves, but I have the data of the bonus worlds ( ripped from the gamecube disc ). =D
Now if I would only find a way to transfer that data into the GBA rom, I would be able to make a R3 rom with bonus worlds. But I don't think I will ever be able to do that.

I have unlocked and beaten all 10 bonus levels, and you can unlock 1 per 100 lums you collect.. Apparently there is an 11th bonus level called the "Final Challenge" but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to unlock it. It has something to do with unlocking the mysterious last Gamecube bonus level 2D Nightmare, or 2D Madness 2. Anyways...

There's no way to do that, everytime you play a bonus level on GBA, you have to redownload it from the gamecube, the bonus levels aren't saved in the cartridge's memory. So it's kind of annoying but anytime you want to replay a level or switch to a different bonus level, you have to redownload it, unless you are directly playing the same level you are already on without turning it off. The only thing the GBA Rayman 3 cartridge saves is the information on whether you actually beat the level or not.

It's actually pretty similar to how the E-reader cards work with Mario Advance 4, except no E-reader, and Mario Advance saved up to 32 levels. :x

They are all really hard, not impossibly hard, but pretty frustrating, much more so than any of the normal levels in the regular Rayman 3 Advance. They are in the same environments throughout the rest of the game, just different level set ups. The last bonus level is another rocket riding level, which is pretty frustrating until you learn where everything is, as you die in one hit and start over on that level tons of times. For now, I don't think you get anything for beating them all, but supposedly something SHOULD happen. I did get a check mark next to each level though.

I'd love for someone else to try their hand on unlocking everything with a Gamecube/Gameboy Advance, and a copy of Rayman 3 on both. No one else here on the forums has really done this. The Gamecube version of Rayman 3 is the best version, and the GBA version of Rayman 3 is a must have, since it's one of the best platformers on the GBA in my opinion and it has great graphics.

In a few years, when Gamecube emulation really takes off, we'll all be able to play around with the Gamecube version.
And I have an idea: if you could make a savestate in R3 GBA after downloading the bonus levels to it, but before turning it off (if that's possible), you could upload it and anyone could play the bonus levels on any ROM.

Yeah, I meant savestates. :P
But it isn't possible to download it to an emulator yet.

Like PS2 emulation I tried Gamecube emulation before and all I could get was a title screen of Luigi's Mansion [which I had to download even though I already have a hard copy of the game :/], nothing more.

If there is a good working Gamecube emulator it will probably be VBA-compatible and then we can all download R3 GC and R3 GBA and unlock the R3 GBA bonus levels and make a savestate and upload it and you can download it and use it to play the R3 GBA bonus levels.

You mean play the gba levels on PC? I didn't really follow what you said. What does VBA stand for? What's an emulator? Because if i'll need one of the acual gamboy advance consoles, btw, then that's it. I'm screwed. Because i play R3 gba on my DS.

An emulator is a program that let's you play console games ( or software, for example PocketPC ) right on your computer. VBA is Visual Boy Advance, Visual Boy Advance is a great GBA emulator. And we are talking about connecting a GC and GBA emulator to each other and then make a save state for the Game Boy Advance games with the bonus levels unlocked and people will be able to use it to play the bonus levels with their GBA emulator
