Riding The Lava
That song still scares the hell out of me when it gets really loud and creepy, I remember it playing in the PS1 version of Rayman 2, when you fight the two Mini Janos in the Sanctuary Of Stone And Fire.

Re: Riding The Lava
Yeah. Spooky music, and those mini Janos are such creepy bastards. Say, do those guys have anything to do with Jano or is Jano just one of those creatures with a magicians hat on?
Also on the subject of Jano, why does he wear the same hat as Polokus?
But yeah, the music sets such a spooky atmosphere. Its creepy when you can just hear the mini Janos bouncing around but you don't know where they are until they pounce on you

Re: Riding The Lava
Dont they have the same hat because the Cave of Bad Dreams is where Polokus' nightmares have taken form, and Jano is more or less a nightmare form of Polokus manifested? Or something?
I dont remember where I read that so I could just be spouting crockpot nonsense

Re: Riding The Lava
The same pattern also appears on the Hoodoo gown.
And I think Jano is the superior creature and all those mini Janos are his subordinates because they are smaller and less dangerous.

The music makes you feel like there is something following you, and the darker atmosphere in the PS1 version of The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire....

Re: Riding The Lava
Is it the exact same? In that mugshot artwork of the Hoodlums it looks like his gown just has a star pattern, whereas Polokus and Jano's hats have a pattern composed of weird shapes that aren't stars.Xenon wrote:The same pattern also appears on the Hoodoo gown.
On RayWiki it says there are "Fire Crabs" in the COBD and I'm not sure what is meant by that. Is that the name of those one-eyed green "mini Janos"? I love that level but I haven't played it in quite a while.

I just noticed that the pictures on the walls of the temples in The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire are of Jano...

Re: Riding The Lava
They do look like him, yes. Perhaps he was involved in the Sanctuary's creation?
Anyway, "Riding the Lava" doesn't make me feel like I'm being followed. Makes me feel more like I'm in a dark, ancient, forbidden, haunted, cursed place...

Yeah, it is creepy and dark...
Re: Riding The Lava
As for the Hoodoo gown, I believe it is composed of both stars and moon shapes. It's very similar (but not identical) to Jano's hat, but I'm not sure if we should make a direct connection here.dingodile555 wrote:Is it the exact same? For "fire crabs", I'm unsure what that is referring to. It could be those small orange crabs that fly up once hit, but I don't remember any of these in TCOBD.

Re: Riding The Lava
You know what, I think you're right. It's too similar to be a coincidence. There could be some connection, or maybe it's just another reference to Rayman 2.Xenon wrote: As for the Hoodoo gown, I believe it is composed of both stars and moon shapes. By the way, there should be more on-rail shooter sections in Rayman 4 like in Rayman 3 (Tower Of The Leptys part 3 and Reflux final phase).

They're certainly not called fire crabs... I've just corrected the article anywaydingodile555 wrote:On RayWiki it says there are "Fire Crabs" in the COBD and I'm not sure what is meant by that. The Jano things on the walls:

Actually, I think they're more likely to be mini-Janos.

Re: Riding The Lava
None of they have arms. Some of them have big jutting lower jaws, and the rest are timid-looking...like the coward ghoul?
However, they are round, like the mini-Janos. And they're all one-eyed, and have big spiky teeth.
I think there could be a connection.
Now, for something completely different: You know those blue pyramids you throw those orbs onto? And those orange pyramids, too? They're the same colour, shape and size as Axel and Foutch's heads! I reckon there's a connection. And what about those pyramids just before Boss Chenille in Revolution? Those pyramids are only in Revolution...just like Grolem 13! And they're sorta the same colour as his head, and you have to do a raindance on them, just like he shoots rainclouds at you! And what about those rotating stone pyramids that breathe fire? I think they might be connected to Umber!
Ah...I am rambling...

Re: Riding The Lava
I agree with you at the pyramids for the magic spheres because they only appear in blue and yellow just like Axel and Foutch. I don't know about the spinning ones that emit fire though; that seems a little farfetched.
By the way, I thought the ones in Revolution were purple...?

Re: Riding The Lava
What in Revolution is purple?
Also, You're not the first to suspect a connection. I've also noticed that. In fact...

Re: Riding The Lava
I'm not sure whether it's supposed to represent mini-Janos, but I have to admit that one of the patterns is quite resembling.
