Has anyone else beat First Reflux without the red cans?

The first time I fought him I forgot to use the cans so yeah I beat him without.

The real question is if you can defeat him without the use of the red lums AND cans. I did it once, but I got really close to death.

It's pretty hard but I don't see why it couldn't be done. Not worth the effort though.

It's not that hard to do it without the cans. Not sure about the lums though.

Actually, you can do more damage WITHOUT the red cans than with, because if you use the red cans, you knock the scepter out of his hands and he stops being vulnerable, if you attack him without, then you can hit him over and over again for a while without knocking the scepter away before he stops being vulnerable.

No, I'm pretty sure he does that when he takes a set amount of damage. It happens faster with the red cans because you do more damage.

The red cans are almost just a must-have if you want your score improved. :\ Or even if you're doing a speed run or something, really.

On a related note, I beat Psycho Mantis in MGS1 without switching the controller to port 2. Because ePSXe doesn't have a controller-switching thing. Save states helped, though.

I had tried beating Reflux without the red cans. Its possible but its more fun with the red cans.

I just beat Reflux without the cans again, and I realized, it's extremely easy. It takes a while longer but what the heck, simple.

What exactly is the point in this anyway? It's like asking whether a Heckler can be beaten without use of an HMF (aside from removing the shield obviously) - it's obvious it can be done but ludicrously pointless.
