Shame that I didn't join in 2010 because I would have been one of the main contributors to this topic. :noel:
It's an extremely underrated franchise and both NiGHTS Into Dreams and Rayman 1 were my first video games! Truly magical worlds! :nostalgic:
And the best thing that they have in common is that you don't wait forever to get a sequel 20 years later :hap:

I went back to both the HD remaster and Journey of Dreams not so long ago and I 100%ed both of them! They're far more fun when you understand how the points/rank system really works!
It even got me in the mood to make some NiGHTS-inspired levels in Rayman ReDesigner!

So for this mega bump, I'm gonna ask the same question: Any NiGHTS fans out there? :hehe:

Well, to be honest, I haven't played any of the NIGHTS games that are out there. I was actually introduced to the character through a cameo in Sonic Adventure, and though it's not my top priority to play them right this second, the games are on the backlist of what I want to play and I do intend to play them at some point. Maybe after I play through the games once I'll have a good opinion on them. :D

One thing I AM going to say though: this song definitely slaps!

Funnily enough it was kind of the other way around for me as I first saw Sonic through NiGHTS Into Dreams, and then I got pleasantly surprised when I found some references to the latter in Sonic titles like the Adventure games! :mryellow:
(Though I became a Sonic fan just a few years after NiGHTS through Heroes and Adventure 2)

If you want to try them eventually, the HD remaster of Into Dreams + Christmas NiGHTS is on Steam and on the PS3/Xbox stores (with backwards compatibility for Xbox consoles). It lacks the 2-player battle mode and some of Christmas NiGHTS' bonus content, but it's currently the best way to experience NiGHTS as of now. :)
However, getting the originals and Journey of Dreams is tougher if you don't emulate (they're respectively on Saturn/Japanese PS2 and Wii)... Not that it matters much for the first game since you can switch graphic styles in the remaster.

Though, I would say it's not really a franchise for everyone as these are very special games and their best features are more their atmosphere, hidden symbolics and their unique enchanting dream world rather than the gameplay.
Like Crash Bandicoot, you'll probably find them OK at best and breeze through them if you're not interested in 100 % completion (not counting Crash 4 :hap: :confus: ).
There's a rank system for every level (pretty much the same as Sonic and it most likely inspired the 3D games) and it's the main meat of the games' fun and length through the score, which encourages you to fully explore the levels and figure out the most efficient ways to get as much points as possible before moving on to every next section.
Tho, the soundtrack is indeed amazing! Truly magical and on par with some of Sonic's best music in my opinion! :proud:

So if you're unsure, I would suggest to wait for a Steam sale or try some emulation, and then decide if you really want to play more, including Journey of Dreams.
JoD doesn't have many fans, but it did plenty of nice things with its gameplay and content, and its soundtrack is just a masterpiece! :nostalgic:

(I'm holding myself back from sharing the best tracks to avoid spoilers! :oops2: )

I played the PS3 remaster (not the original Saturn version since that would cost way too much), and i really liked it, i'm also a big fan of the aesthetic style of the series, including the characters and music
