Box conserving

Post by Haruka »

I've been wondering something, am I the only one who has the habit of conserving game boxes, console boxes or boxes from any other kind of hardware/software?

I personally like to conserve them, because I not only know where the things are saved, aswell for warranty questions and coleccionism.

I'd love to conserve my box's, but the game stores here require them for trade-ins.
But, I do like taking scans of them to forsake the above.

When I was younger, I didn't really hold onto them. The only boxes I've really kept actually are the PC games that have disks in paper sleeves, and my DS stuff.

I do the reverse. I pull the cover out the box and put it on the cover stack, then put the manual (excluding ads and Nintendo's warning booklets) on the manual stack, then I put the box on the boxes stack, then I put the disc into my... erm... CD Organiser. The only problem about this is Smash Melee; guess why.

Having never played Melee, I'm going to have to ask, why?
Though I have played Brawl so don't kill me.

Of course, even if the cover broke, I design my own covers with some images and screenshots of the game :)

Apart from my old GBA game boxes (my mother used to force me to get rid of these owing to their flimsy nature) I believe I have every game box I ever acquired still in my possession. I even still have the boxes for games that I lost years ago. I also keep all of my console boxes, which are starting to take up a lot of room in the loft. I have no idea why I do this, but I would never throw any away...

No reason; it has actually not much to do with Melee itself. GC disk's diameter is 8 cm.

I always conserve my boxes. I 'had' a whole basement room dedicated to boxes of all the stuff I'd gotten. The reason I say "had" is because one day I go to put a new box in and they're all gone. Apparently my mother threw all of them out even though I had told her at least on a hundred occasions not to. I was so angry that I hit her (for the first and only time when I was 13). Why? That collection was one of the most personally valued things I had and she knew that. Now I hide my boxes in an interestingly large and hidden place in my house that only I know about.

You mean that place under the floorboards in your bedroom?

Haha, very close. There's a segregated attic. Above my room that was pained over on the ceiling. I discovered it by playing darts and accidentally sneezing and throwing it upward, hitting the ceiling in my closet and knocking away a portion of paint. Bingo! Classic discovery.

Sadly my mother threw away the R2TGE box plus Croc 2's box when I was 9 years old, I did get annoyed because both would be two relics now. (Both had 3D-volumetry, damnit... :()

I keep all my boxes. Who would throw out a cool box like Rayman Advance's?

I'm not sure why people keep the packaging. You wouldn't keep the packaging for, say, a wrench or something, would you? Besides, you can just take the cartridges and put them in your bookshelf as if they were books.

I got a new game called 'Earthbound' the other day. It came in a gigantic box that wasted a ton of space. Why would I keep that around? I threw it away. Useless.

Because not everybody has the same sense of preservational value as the person beside them, or the people beside them.
