Seventeenth edition of the posts in a day record

Post by PluMGMK »

Hello all! Pirate-Community is organizing its seventeenth edition of the posts in a day record. For those who aren't familiar with the rules, this is how it works:
Hunchman801 wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2009 8:20 pm Each year since 2006, we organise a posts in a day record at PC. The whole thing is quite simple: it consists in posting the most possible messages in a predetermined time span of 24 hours. The goal is not only to break a new record every year or bring more activity to the forums, but also to shuffle our topics in order to bring new discussions for the following year.

This is not a spam contest, and useless messages are obviously not welcome. However, the special conditions during the record day will be the cause of a certain leniency, especially as concerns old topics, which can be bumped freely.
The current record stands at an insane 32252 posts. Can we do better this year? That's up to you!

The rewards rise to the occasion: each post is worth 15 Tings within the given time span, and then come the bonus Tings: 1500 for participating, 1500 for beating one's previous posts in a day record, and 3000 Tings for the winner. For example, some time ago someone earned the incredible amount of 84690 Tings that day.

As usual, we're planning on having it on a Saturday during the summer, more specifically from 21:00 or 22:00 UTC on the Friday night to 21:00 or 22:00 UTC the following day (yes, time zones are confusing :P). 22:00 was the traditional option, while we've used 21:00 in recent years – which do you think is better?

As for the date, we should probably aim for some Saturday in June, July or August. If you have any ideas for when would be good, please let us know what you think!

My suggsts: 21:00. I really like Friday. (which would be Saturday for you. I would like to do it sooner but July is okay too. Maybe even May 13th would be good. 8) Hopefully, I will beat me record which is 11 posts.

I'm not sure if this could help, but I'm willing to draw a full colored character with transparent background for the user that wins this Record Day (for this year only).

I should be able to make it to any Saturday in those months as long as nothing comes up, since I still don't know when we'll be going on a trip, lol.

That's really cool, though I clearly do not expect to win. :oops2:

I appreciate the sentiment as well, but I highly doubt I'll win either lol.

Also, kind of an update: It looks like any Saturday besides the one on the last week of July would work for me. :)

Well, the vote is awfully close, but it looks like the preference is for 22:00:

Next step is to pick a date… In a moment I'll make a poll including Saturdays over the next few months: please choose all Saturdays for which you will be available. I'll let it run for a week and then we'll see…

I think I forgot to vote for the day, for me 11 or 18 of June would be fine.

I've extended the poll to the 11th, which obviously rules it out as a date. I'm definitely leaning more towards July or August at this point, since June has kinda snuck up on us :oops2:

I just started school again today, so might be difficult for me to maintain sticking around when the day comes. I might have better luck during late August though.

I'm available except when I'm not. I don't really know for sure. I don't I don't know about the last week of August but it's fine. Honestly, I would prefer it to be as soon as possible but that's alright if it's later.

Well, my problem is that I want to book my vacation time around it, which requires some notice. But I'm guessing a lot of people have the same problem, in which case we could just pick a random date that's not too soon… :?

I guess a random date between within July and August is the way to go.
