1001 Lums? (Rayman 2)

I've recently completed Rayman 2 and am now scouring the island for all the 1001 lums depicted on the front cover of the Prima's Official Strategy Guide.
Ive even got the 1000th extra lum in the Tomb of the Ancients level, but is there one more?

Or is the 1001 Lums just a reference to 1001 (Arabian) Nights (novel)?

Im talking about this guide

There are only 1000 Lums obtainable in the game. I think that misleading guide cover was discussed here before, but I can't remember where, or what we concluded...

You mean this one?

That’s very misleading because you don’t even “find” one of them :mefiant:

Edit: oops didn’t realise you linked it :oops2:

But it is technically true because there are 1001 lums in the game, just the guide is poorly misworded

Well, we don't know that. The Lum Razorbeard ate could be the same one in Tomb of the Ancients (there are theories of varying levels of wholesomeness about how it got there :fou:)

That is my theory as well, but that doesn’t make 1001 lums

Well, there aren't 1001 Lums, those cover designers just got confused.

Or they just failed at an attempt to get clever and all

Quite possibly… It's always cringey when people try to be too clever :oops2:

And always makes the opposite result

Yeah there’s no reference there, there’s only 1000 lums to be found. Isn’t the hidden lum more of an Easter egg anyways?

Yeah I guess it kinda is because it’s in the tomb of the ancients

Well, it's required to get a 100% score in the game (otherwise you only get 99.9%), so I'd consider it part of the main game…

See, this is what happens when I don't play Rayman for a very long time, I start forgetting things! :P

I have to get back to playing Rayman Advance at some point today.

That means you get to have more fun going back and searching for the other 400! :D After a while you get a feel for where they might be, and don't forget to listen out for the flapping of the Super Yellow Lums' wings ;)

600 lums? I think that if you try to miss every lum you will get more than 600 at the end of the game.

Yeah, I thought that sounded a bit low! :oops2: I guess Greengoop is exaggerating :hap:

Either that or he didn't actually finish the game!

Well that depends which version he played. He might only need 200.
