Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
Hi guys,
The point of this was to determin the actual relationship between the great Polokus (from TGE) and the Bubble Dreamer (from RO). It is said that they are suppose to be the same thing, and that maybe Polokus is able to shape-shift. Reports, on the offical rayman origins website, that the bubble dreamer created the dream world, and Jano. But we all know that Jano was the outcome of Polokus' first dream.
Is this just some random thing people were saying, or is there something that doesn't make sense?
Please, post your ideas here, and let's discuss this.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
I think it was confirmed that Bubble Dreamer is indeed Polokus, who is a shapeshifter.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
That is true, Bubble Dreamer is Polokus from Rayman 2, however, him turning into Jano was a mistranslation, instead, he created Jano in his first nightmare, who would then become the progenitor of the Darktoons.maxxyboy1000 wrote:Hi guys,

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
You must admit it would be damn cool if Jano was an alter-ego of Polokus or something like that.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
Though that would make the events of the Cave of Bad Dreams and Rayman 2 in general hard to get one's head around, as somehow, Polokus returned, briefly transformed into Jano, then when defeated returned to his solitude, even though the ONLY way for him to return was to use the four masks.Rulez wrote:You must admit it would be damn cool if Jano was an alter-ego of Polokus or something like that.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
The Bubble Dreamer definitely is Polokus; this was confirmed in a magazine article earlier in the year, and the nymphs invoke Polokus’s name when they’re opening the Dreamer’s Door. (At least I think it’s the nymphs; I’m going from the script here.) Even without this evidence, it would still be pretty clear that they were meant to be the same character.
Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
I've seen the LP and indeed, the nymphs say 'Hokus Polokus'.spiraldoor wrote: (At least I think it’s the nymphs; I’m going from the script here.)

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
There was also the fact that Rayman, in rayman 2, was asked if he knew who polokus was. When Ly asked him, he said 'um, no...'.
So, if Rayman Origins came before Rayman 2, then wouldn't he have seen Bubble Dreamer (Polokus) during that time?

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
From what I listen, Rayman Origins is now a prequel of R3HH and a sequel to R2TGE. I still didn't play the full game but only the fact that Grand Minimus appears in Rayman Origins, it makes me believing it is after Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

Oh. So its gone from being a prequel to Rayman 1, to being a sequel to the Rayman 2: TGE....Haruka wrote:From what I listen, Rayman Origins is now a prequel of R3HH and a sequel to R2TGE. Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
Initially it was about to be a prequel of Rayman 1, but I guess that during the full retail development, the whole team changed their mind and scrapped potential new and interesting details that could have been brought to surface. There are other factors that it wouldn't make sense the game being before Rayman 1, like the Teensies, Murfy, Bubble Dreamer/Polokus, Globox, Lums seen at the same time as Electoons... Oh well. I have yet to play the full game to take my own conclusions.

There’s no indication that Origins takes place before Rayman 3.Haruka wrote:From what I listen, Rayman Origins is now a prequel of R3HH and a sequel to R2TGE. Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
What about Globox's quote in the Land of the Livid Dead in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc? It suddenly made sense.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
I don’t really understand that either. The Land of the Livid Dead in Rayman 3 is aboveground, and the Land of the Livid Dead in Rayman Origins is underground, so I suppose they could co-exist in the same place; it wouldn’t make much sense for one to turn into the other. Maybe Globox’s line in R3 was what inspired the developers of Origins.

Re: Polokus vs Bubble Dreamer
If I recall correctly, is it something like "*gasp*, we're in the Land of the Livid Deeeaaad!" ?
I can't check in on YouTube right now as I'm on my phone.

Ah the Land of Livid Dead at Last, In any case it's nice and calm here, and here I was expecting a scary place with terrifying ghouls! Oh, silly Globox!

Something like that. It makes sense now because Globox visited the underground section of the Land, so he was expecting it. Yet they visited the 'overworld'.
EDIT: Fuck.

Or maybe he thought it was going to be a scary place filled with terrifying ghouls because it’s called ‘the Land of the Livid Dead’.
