Terraria Rayman Resource Packs, Mods & Various Creations!

Post by Mortamon Saturn »

Hello everyone! Welcome to this topic dedicated to all Rayman-related creations in the famous sandbox game Terraria, such as resource packs (textures, sounds, etc.), mods or other creations like maps or in-game builds/recreated characters!
Here, you can share any Rayman-related content you've made (or found) for Terraria! This game is a very good framework for Rayman creations, especially regarding Rayman 1 and the old handheld/mobile games due to the highly pixelated graphics and retro sounds!

If you don't know how to make resource packs, you can check the official ultimate guide! It covers pretty much everything, although it fails to mention you need to convert your sound effects to xnb files (as they never work in other formats from my experience), which you can easily do with TConvert (which is also the most handy to extract Terraria's assets and edit them), and put them in a "Sounds" folder within your pack.
But basically, the gist of it is that graphics and fonts must be .png files (using the same names and resolutions), while music must be .mp3/.wav/.ogg files and use the exact same name as the track it replaces (e.g. "Music_1" for Overworld Day, see here for list of IDs).

If you want to quickly test a music pack, I've made a map dedicated to that: The Great Music Box, which features all of the game's music boxes to test out each track in-game! The Steam Workshop page also has a convenient list of the music IDs so you can easily work on replacing the files!
However, Music_50 must be tested by launching the game (as there aren't any music box for it and you won't hear it when first loading your music pack), while Music_28 and Music_45 are rain and wind ambient sounds and are as such only heard during rainy and windy conditions (which you can easily trigger yourself in Journey Mode). The recently added Music_102 can also only be heard by triggering a Rainbow Boulder (the Music_103 loop variation only plays after one loop of that intro version or through the Rainbow Boulder music box).
Here's a Rayman 1 Music Pack in action as an example! :hehe:
Or a (WIP) texture pack which replaces Piranhas... with Rayman 1's Piranhas:

Such modifications are most easily shared through the Steam version's Workshop menu, but you can also make downloadable releases on other websites for people who can't/don't want to use the Workshop such as GOG users!

Here are the currently known Rayman creations on the Steam Workshop:

Texture Packs [COMING SOON]:
  • Rayman Texture Pack [WIP] {by Mortamon Saturn}
Music Packs: Sound Packs:
There are also some other packs (mainly musical) with a tiny bit of Rayman stuff which aren't focused on the franchise specifically, but I don't think it's worth listing if there's so little Rayman content to them.
Still, you can freely promote in this topic any unrelated Terraria creations you've made, it's just that they won't be listed in the main post! :mryellow:

I'll update the list once you share your content, so I can link to your post (which itself must link to the downloadable content).
I can also list your Workshop packs in this Steam collection, for everyone's convenience! :D

Feel free to ask any question if needed! :)

I've always wanted to get this game. ☺️ What else do you plan to add to the texture pack?

You really should when you can, it barely costs a thing on PC especially when it's on sale! And without any exaggeration, it's worth thousands of hours of entertainment if you can really get into that game, with and without mods! :D

So, regarding my planned texture pack...
As of *now*, the replaced graphics are as follows:
Menu and UI:
-The forest splash screen (with Dream Forest assets).
-The main logo (with Rayman 1's).
-Hearts and mana stars in the UI (with Rayman 1's health points and the speed fist's S icon).
-All of the map's backgrounds (with highly compressed backgrounds from Rayman 1).
-Some UI elements and several extras (like the photographer's camera replacing various icons in camera mode, Steam Workshop icon replaced with the Ubisoft logo from the early 2000s...).
Environment:
-A few edited backgrounds (which add some background layer parts from Rayman 1, like the Dream Forest in a few Jungle backgrounds).
-Some background ambient entities (birds replaced with flying rings, flying ships replaced with red rings, Martian Madness decorative UFOs with Joe's UFOs... all placed in a way that appears perfectly animated! :mryellow: ).
-Most clouds (with various Rayman clouds and some Band Land/Airy Tunes related objects/entities).
-The stars (with Ting particles).
Items:
-Coins (with matching colored Tings, but I'm also planning a separate version with more Ting variations from the Rayman series, and I have to figure out how to do the coin piles...).
-Most flail weapons, currently the Ball O' Hurt, Blue Moon and Dao of Pow (with purple and blue spiky balls and the spiked yin yangs from Rayman 1), plus the launched ones like the Chain Guillotine, KO Cannon or Golem Fist (with Rayman's LockJaw, his normal and golden telescopic fist).
-Some thrown weapons like the Toxic Flask (with a recolored helicopter potion).
-A few boomerangs like the Bananarang (with the Ring Pirate's ring).
-The Gladius sword (inspired by the Hoplite's Gladius from Redemption).
-Various keys (using the Ubi Key from Rayman GBC and its PDA ports).
-Some foods like mushrooms, fruits and ice creams (with decorative mushrooms, Plums, the fruits and ice creams from the edutainment games)
-Various miscellaneous objects...
NPCs:
-Many fish enemies like Piranhas, Sharkrons, etc. (with Rayman 1 and GBC's piranhas, and large-mouthed fishes).
-Most bat enemies (with Rayman GBC/PDA's bats, and maybe the unused Redemption ones brought to life for the first time into a game... and it's not even a Rayman one! ).
-Meteor Heads (with the GBC lava balls).
-Some of the skeleton sorcerers from the Dungeon (with Mr Dark's GBC appearances).
-Some wraith-like enemies (with Mr Dark's soul from the GBC game and its derivatives).
Effects and projectiles:
-Custom related projectiles for all the weapons/entities mentioned here.
-Custom gore bits for all the mentioned enemies.
-The Meteor Staff's meteors (with R1's lava balls).
-Hornet and bee enemies stingers (with Spider stingers).
-Many knives (using Space Mama's knives from Rayman 1).
-Most rockets (with the Hunter bullets from most Rayman 1-based games).
-Many bombs (like the Bomb pirate's explosives from Rayman 1).

As you can tell from that list, most of this is a pure texture swap with pre-existing official assets (Ubisoft inspired me for this :hap: ) . Though, I'd rather avoid using fanmade assets and so I'll probably make new sprites inspired by them instead.

It already took over a dozen hours just to implement those, and that wasn't easy due to Terraria's restrictions like sprite sizes (so I have to make some edits sometimes to fit some elements' parts)... :confus:
I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make original texture replacements in this game!... Alone, making a full-on resource pack replacing all of Terraria's thousands of textures would honestly take months, if not over a year depending on the pack's level of detail..!

Hello everyone! It is with great pleasure that I bring you a complete Rayman 1 Music Pack for Terraria 1.4.5 and beyond!
This bundle replaces every single track in Terraria, for a total of 104!
(Actually 105 as I anticipated for the potential future Alt Skeletron music from the official soundtrack! :hehe: )
Terraria 1.4.5 Workshop - Rayman 1 Music Pack.png
That's right... Now Terraria is more true to Rayman 1's soundtrack than the official 30th Anniversary Edition of Rayman 1! :bad: :hap:
Workshop for Steam users: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2872775914
GOG/non-Steam download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/eij5lblm ... 5.zip/file

This includes all the music from the original Rayman 1 (PlayStation version specifically with the drum tracks), plus the Junior OST Mix by Daniel Masson and some extras like the 2D throwback levels in Rayman 2 PS1 and Hoodlum Havoc!

I've also added two *early pre-release* Rayman by Rémi pieces (those featured on Rémi Gazel's Soundcloud/YouTube channel)... I obviously won't provide the files from the paid Bandcamp release and you can get the 3 tunes yourself by purchasing the album.
Here are some recommended slots:

-RAYMAN 1 - MR SAX LIVE: Music_49/60/89/100.
-RAYMAN 1 - THE MAGICIAN LIVE: Music_6/41/49/60/100/101.
-Rayman 1 - Mr DARK LIVE: Music_38/84/94/98/104.

As for some special alternate tracks and the Otherworldly half of the soundtrack (alternative music based on the cancelled Terraria Otherworld and unlocked by playing a Drunk seed, which gives you a toggle when talking to the Party Girl NPC), it is covered by Rayman Ultimate and Redemption! (The latter of which was implemented with Ryemanni's approval, so special thanks to him for allowing me to use his work :D )!

Everything has been carefully selected to fit every context as best as possible, and I took care to edit the volume and the quiet final bits of each file to ensure everything sounds balanced and loops properly!
I even extended a few pieces as they were way too short for Terraria's standards.

Here's the full tracklist!

Terraria - Rayman Music Pack.png
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 3686101078
https://www.mediafire.com/file/olthhiwl ... 4.zip/file
[Note that the editing in this one is outdated and therefore some tracks may loop pretty badly.]

Note: You can customize the bundle to your liking by going to its folder. If you use the Workshop version, the folder's path should be something of the sort: "{Folder where you installed Steam}\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\105600\2872775914\Content\Music".
Note: the final ID should be "3686101078" instead if you downloaded the 1.4.4 release.

Since 1.4.5, you can also change which music you want to hear by default on the title screen by going into Terraria's config.json file (located in "Documents\My Games\Terraria"). There's a new "TitleMusic" setting which you can edit by replacing its value with "Current" (Journey's End), "Old" (classic), "Console" (alt) or "Random".
You should also be able to find the "ResourcePacks" folder in that same location if you're trying to install the non-Steam version.

Have fun! :mryellow:
I may also make more versions for the Jaguar, Advance, GBC/PPC and 30th Anniversary soundtracks in the future!

Oh... and... this is only a first taste of more things to come!

It does take quite a bit of repetitive work, but thankfully I don't find it too hard, if anything it was a good excuse to have fun listening to some of my favourite soundtracks!

I just added a few more details in the post, mostly regarding how I edited each track so they loop properly for Terraria's standards, and some tips about how to customize the bundle yourself, or the config file which now makes it possible to pick the default theme on the main menu since version 1.4.5.

Additionally, the Rayman 1-related Music Packs I'll create now have their dedicated thread on the Terraria Community Forums! :mryellow:

Texture packs on the other hand... Now that's a very painful headache to deal with!... :oops2:
So... regarding the future, here are more random teasers! :hehe:

Note: all of these are old WIP screenshots from Terraria 1.4.4, so the final results may end up very different.

Beautiful! Looking at the retro aesthetics of Terraria, I think the SNES prototype would fit really really well! ☺️
