Ray-people conflict
Hello,
I was playing Rayman 1 today, and in the forest of forgetfulness, I noticed that Tarazan looked exactly like Rayman, except, he was a darker tint. Which reminded me of the Ray-people. And how most, if not all, of the people in rayman 1, were missing limbs.
All fine. But when I started playing Rayman 2, later on that day, I was reading the lore, and it stated that Rayman was the ONLY creature not to be created by Polokus.
So where do the other Ray-people come in?
Is rayman from another 'world'? A world in which Betilla lived also?
Or maybe the other ray-people were created by Polokus?
Or maybe they simply missed being mentioned, as they showed no appearance in Rayman 2 onwards?

Re: Ray-people conflict
The developers figured that they wanted Rayman to be the only limbless being more so and more so as they went along, and thus we just have to ignore the fact that many people in Rayman 1 are limbless.

Re: Ray-people conflict
I've been thinking the same thing. Not only were all the characters in Rayman 1 limbless, but there were also a few characters who were obviously the same species as Rayman. But then, after that, the developers pull the whole "Rayman is unique" thing? XD
Yeah, I guess we're just supposed to re-imagine all of the Rayman 1 characters in Rayman Origins style, and the characters of Rayman's species being... Teensies, or something. XD

Re: Ray-people conflict
Rayman Origins' has made it clear that the only limbless character is Rayman and his Dark Counterpart.
The rest have been retconned into other species, mostly Teensies.
The only characters that I hold any confusion over as to their current appearance are Mr. Dark (We've only seen a silhouette of the real guy) and Joe (Though I imagine it would be him with just limbs)

Re: Ray-people conflict
Yea, a character like Joe would be easy to bring back with limbs, some others, not so much.Master4lyf1 wrote:Rayman Origins' has made it clear that the only limbless character is Rayman and his Dark Counterpart.

Re: Ray-people conflict
Rayman in R2, ALAIK, is the only thing that nobody knows where it comes from.
This confronted with existence of Tarayzan and possibly more hole-y (don't drop the "e") leads to very... umm... surprising results... if you don't see it yet, let me explain - it's a fact Tarayzan is similar to Rayman, and yet somebody knows where does Tarayzan come from.
I suppose they, as sad as it is, indeed retcon something here, because, as explained above, we otherwise get pretty pervert story around here.

Re: Ray-people conflict
It would be really cool if Ubisoft could somehow bring back the rest of Rayman's kind in a future game.
But it won't happen.
Because it's easier to wipe out a species and say it never happened.

That would make the appearances of Betilla, the Magician, the Livingstones and the Hunters in Rayman Origins very difficult to explain.THEdragon wrote:It would be really cool if Ubisoft could somehow bring back the rest of Rayman's kind in a future game.

I don't agree, I think the idea of Rayman being the only limbless being is far more interesting.THEdragon wrote:It would be really cool if Ubisoft could somehow bring back the rest of Rayman's kind in a future game.

Re: Ray-people conflict
So are we to assume that Tarayzan and the Musician never existed, are Teensies, or are just humans with arms and legs like Clark?
Love it. Love every bit of it.THEdragon wrote: *Soul dies at the thought of hippie musician teensie*

I'd rather they just not exist than be turned into some other species! >_<Sabertooth1000000000 wrote:So are we to assume that Tarayzan and the Musician never existed, are Teensies, or are just humans with arms and legs like Clark?

Re: Ray-people conflict
Agreed. I stick to believe that they never existed. Or they missed mention, and will never be heard from again.THEdragon wrote:Sabertooth1000000000 wrote:So are we to assume that Tarayzan and the Musician never existed, are Teensies, or are just humans with arms and legs like Clark?

Re: Ray-people conflict
Are the limblesses are born as babies, not created from people?

Pretending that Tarayzan and the Musician never existed is rather silly, considering that Tarayzan was almost included as a skin in Origins.

Re: Ray-people conflict
I don’t know, and more importantly, neither do you. Does the developers’ decision not to include him in Origins signify a deliberate retroactive removal of Tarayzan from the original game? No, it doesn’t. By your logic, Clark the Giant never existed, because they ended up not putting him in Rayman 3.
Re: Ray-people conflict
Well, no, but if Rayman is supposedly the only one of his kind then were do those characters fit in? My mind is bebogglefied.spiraldoor wrote:I don’t know, and more importantly, neither do you. Re: Ray-people conflict
They fit in the same way that the stone men and the Electoons fit, more or less.
The Bubble Dreamer states that Tarayzan is Rayman’s cousin, but that Rayman is the nymphs’ ‘best recipe yet’. Join the dots.

Wait, so Rayman ISN'T the only one of his kind, supposedly.
D__D Well okay, I sort of understand now.... XD

Re: Ray-people conflict
I still get the impression that Rayman is special in some way, even among his own species.
