Rayman origins on linux?

Post by EdgyRabbid »

Hello!

So i went to go buy Origins on GOG to make it easier to run Origins on linux (i havent finished the game and id like to do that)

However, when i went to buy GOG said Origins doesnt WORK on linux?? even when i used a launcher that runs wine???

What is going on, why isnt it letting me play the game??? Help???

You can go ahead and buy it, it'll work fine when you use Lutris ;)

Alright! It’s just it wouldn’t let me buy it on my main computer for whatever reason? Now I’m short on money for buying it cuz I spent the rest of my cash of roller coaster tycoon deluxe… oops!

But idk how to get my rom working? Could I do it though another program?

If you already own Origins from elsewhere then that should work just the same on Linux as the GOG version since all the digital versions are the same.

As for why GOG didn't let you buy it - are you using the app or the website? I'd imagine the website might work better, and also allows you to download offline installers for your games.

If you're using Lutris, you can just hit the + button to add a new game, search the Lutris website for installers, and search for Rayman Origins. There seems to be one there, and I think it should work with a downloaded copy…

Haven't tried that one, but it sounds like you specifically need to have the game from GOG for that to work...

You mean an ISO? It's been a while since I used Mint, but if I recall correctly you can just double click that in the file manager and it'll mount it as if it were a real CD. From there I think the easiest thing to do is to use Lutris – it should be easy enough to install that, even if you have Heroic as well…

If you get it installed it will work with Wine, if you had it on Steam it would be Proton. The game will definitely work though, I was playing it back in 2019 or so. There was a point where certain things seemed a bit broken, but that was able to be solved with D9VK back then, which is just basically integrated into DXVK now, so it will use that by default usually.
