Riptides are enemies that appear in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and its DLC, Rayman in the Phantom Show. They are a water-themed variant of the Wildclaw enemy that uses fish as weapons and grows stronger the more it is are attacked.
Appearance
Riptides are hybrids of Rabbids and feline creatures. They have blue fur and wield a large fish, which they use as a club.
Abilities
Like Wildclaws, Riptides possess the "Hot Pursuit" ability, causing them to charge at any hero who damages them and counterattack if they get close enough. Their unique ability is "Berserker Fury", which increases their attack power every time they take damage. This power boost resets after the Riptide performs its own attack.
Their main attack, "Snapper Whacker", is a close-range area attack that inflicts the Splash Super Effect. Consequently, Riptides are resistant to Splash damage but are weak to the Shock Super Effect.
Tacticam analysis
Finds the closest opponent on which to inflict Splash-based attacks for considerable damage. When hit, will doggedly pursue its attacker upon which it will deal even more damage due to their rage.—Tacticam analysis, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
- Weak: Shock
- Resistant: Splash
- Attack: Snapper Whacker. Short-range area attack with a Splash effect.
- Ability: Hot Pursuit. If attacked, moves towards the offender. If they're within range, performs an extra attack on them.
- Ability: Berserker Fury. Next attack is enhanced with each hit taken, causing increased DMG. Resets after attack is performed.
Memories
Amongst all the Rabbid-feline mutations, these are perhaps the ones that cause me the most concern for our Heroes. The more they are hurt, the more harm they manage to cause with each successful assault, and they will doggedly pursue any Hero who successfully lands a blow, no matter where they are. Being water-based, splash-focused attacks are of little use, but ones incorporating electricity are highly effective.—JEANIE, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
