Template talk:Spoiler
Do we need this?
Almost every article we have contains spoilers of some sort – must we now attach a spoiler tag to every single page that mentions a plot or ending detail? In articles which do not directly involve plot details, must we tread carefully to avoid giving away too much information? It seems like this would be a lot of hassle. Considering that the Rayman games have been out for a very long time now, almost all fans will be familiar with the stories – and if you haven't even played the games, why on earth would you read the wiki? The only use I can imagine for this template would be articles relating to Rayman Origins, but nobody in their right mind would read such articles if they want to go into the game spoiler-free. We discussed this issue in the forum some months ago and we reached the conclusion that a spoiler tag was not necessary. There's a reason Wikipedia completely abandoned this system: it's unmanageable. We need to stop mollycoddling readers and allow them to browse the wiki at their own discretion; common sense is enough of a guide for one intent on avoiding spoilers. (This is not directed at Sashabelle but at whoever added this item to the todolist.)

- It was me. It's been a while since I put it on the to do list and I thought we needed it at the time because you know what people are like with spoilers. If you want to delete it it's no problem, I'm not that fussed. -- StaceyW ♬ 16:50, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- While it may be used for recently released games, it's obviously not gonna be possible to implement it in every single article around here. — 18:50, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- If people don't want to know about spoilers, just don't read the correspondent article. People can read the stuff at their own risk. -- Haruka 19:57, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
