Unfortunately I lost the original files for that patch but if I were to restart development on a widescreen patch I would do the exe method.

I did mange to fix the culling issues by editing values in fix.sna but I really don't like using that approach for widescreen patches anymore because editing the camera functions in the exe is a much better approach.

If it doesn't have any culling issues then you've peaked my interest.

To fix clipping issues you need to find the horizontal FOV value inside fix.sna. If you can share the fix.sna file I think I could probably find it.

Yeah I don't think you can change that it's probably just how the game was programmed.

I tried tinkering with the advanced DirectX6 settings but nothing fixed the weird lighting. This most likely isn't a compatibility issue though, the game was just programmed like this for DirectX6.

As far as I'm aware I don't think there's a way to switch to windowed mode when you're already in fullscreen. You could try pressing the Win key to try to access another window but sometimes that will cause the game to crash when you refocus it's window.

Also I'm not sure if I mentioned it on the setup tutorial but Xidi will only work on Windows 10 and 11.

Interesting. Are you running the setup as an administrator? Is the ISO mounted properly? Does this happen when choosing other languages? If you have done all of these, open the setup folder in the ISO and check for that required DLL. If it doesn't exist, try redownloading the ISO.
