Actually didn't know that was the reason Malwarebytes doesn't conflict with Defender. Very interesting! Yeah I do use the free version. Occasionally it updates and drops a pro trial on my PC for 2 weeks, but I honestly just get annoyed that it then keeps bugging me by reminding me constantly...

for a long time I thought I needed malwarebytes because it I thought it specifically targeted malware, not viruses, which led me to assume that antiviruses only looked for viruses. I know better now, but despite that I haven't stopped using both :)

Yeah, I remember something along the lines that Windows can tell if you have another antivirus. But Defender is my default I'm pretty sure. Though they have dumbed the settings down in 10 so much it's hard to tell what it's really doing anymore sometimes.

Not from my experience, no. I've used Defender and Malwarebytes together without issue. It could be different for others, though. I haven't tried.

Perfectly honest? Windows' built in antivirus is just fine. I also keep a free version of Malwarebytes around just to have it doublecheck things every so often. Finally, I'm just careful with what I do online. Haven't been set back by a virus for a full decade and then some.

It might be hanging around in this topic somewhere, since that's where it originated from. I can say though that I worked on the texture for that model. Can also tell we could do her a lot more justice this time around.
