the first time i tried it, i spend hours on it, til i finished it

I knew what to do almost instantly... it's kinda simple really. Shoot, go opposite direction. Turn around to shoot so you can go in the direction you want to go in. Spam the spacebar if you want to avoid Plum-killing yellow magma and make a saving jump if anything does go wrong after all.

Controls are easy, learning and mastering them is hard, but once you do, you feel like a god.

Hmm, yeah, I got the first game after the second one, I believe. I don't really remember though since it's all a bit of a blur around that time; Rayman 2, Rayman, Rayman GBC and my comic adaptations of all three all blended in my mind into one big Rayman memory - so I can't really remember what I did when. I do remember that now that I've played the DSi version of R1, I actually liked the GBC version better! Strangely enough, the awesome music, graphics and settings from R1 didn't compensate for the extra gameplay, areas and Mr. Dark battle that were in the GBC version. And now that I've gotten all nostalgic about it, it's time to get my GBC out of the cupboard and play the hell out of that game until I have formed my new, now somewhat more mature opinion. I'll get back to that statement I just made if I change my mind after playing again.

What is this, you ask?
... I have no idea.
That is an interesting find, though what it is I have no clue.
Also there is sound but I can't convert it properly for some reason.

This is an awesome find! The character looks like a mix between a bunny and a rabbit!

It's definitely from the 2D prototype. Compare the environment with this pîcture:

It's (almost) the same
EDIT -> It IS the same environment. Compare the above picture with this picture from the video, it shows the same environment viewed from the same angle.

My guess is that this video shows the invasion of the robo-pirates as it was in the 2D prototype, and that the cutscene with the chainsaw enemy follows directly after this, the transition from light to dark showing how darkness once again spreads over Rayman's world.
EDIT 2 -> Also, the date on the video is march 1996. Same for the prototype level and the prototype's music, which means Eric Chevalier already had a part of his soundtrack finished in 1996.

Indeed, you're right!

By one side I'm glad the graphical style evoluted a lot, because I do prefer the final style of the Glade of Dreams' fauna and flora in Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

@Haruka: That's right, I'm glad it evolved too. The style in Rayman 2 is much more original than this. This looks more like something between Rayman 1 and 2 (which it is).

I think that might have been the joke. The entire sound track on that vid was Star Wars.

You may be right – I have both played Half-Life and watched some Star Wars video recently, so perhaps I got my sci-fi laser noises mixed up. Or maybe it’s just a stock audio clip that was used in both of them.

Wouldn't be the first time, I remember hearing a noise during the Longest Shortcut that I could swear was also used in Revenge Of The Sith.
