I'm now attempting my third follow-up conversation with EA, two months after I initally opened the case. I didn't expect much - I mean, my pipe dream of course was that they'd go 'o lol here is the mac client we forgot to upload it to our servers here you go' -, but so far in my contact with the support desk, everyone has been really friendly and considerate and I even got to talk directly with some Senior Technical Directors at the company (wut) about the issue. In the end, they all said that they'd start working on it and would contact me per e-mail with details. The problem is, they never have. I asked one month ago whether the case was even being looked at - I would've been incredibly satisfied with a simple 'no', knowing that at least I didn't have to wait on them to fix me up with something from their end -, but what I got was 'I resurfaced the case and you should be contacted very soon', which gave me reinvigorated hope. But that hasn't happened since.

I'm hoping that this is the last time I contact them about it - for the last time, I'm going to ask them for a straight answer: will they be able to help me yes or no? I'm fine with no, but just don't leave me dangling here in unknowledge. If yes, I'd love that fabled 'response from their side' that I've been teased with for two months now. I'm still with extreme hope and like I said - everyone I've met there is friendly and considerate; lovely people. But I want clarity. Any sort of reply, even a 'We're not sure how long it's gonna take' from those tech people who'd reply to me when they were working on it would be good, just so I know that they are working on it.

I get it, EA's a huge company and SPORE is an ancient game. There's no reason for them to support it anymore - they don't have to be doing this. But they told me they'd help and I'd love to hear some confirmation of that. The helpdesk people are as much in the dark as I am - I'd like the experts to at least contact me once so I have a tiny light at the end of this dark cave.

Ok. There's this guy, my classmate, who's been slowly driving me insane as the months go. I don't feel like writing huge paragraphs describing the situation, but trust me. I've got a question.

How do I ruin someone's life?

While I believe you that he's a total fuck and deserves punishment, ruining his life ain't the way to go about it.

But that's why I can't guide Rulez. Mostly it's about spreading lies and rumors, but outside the military world, those can be easily forgotten and/or dismissed.

Just like Candy said, you don't: it's not because people are assholes that you have to be one to get yourself respected. There are tons of guys like him out there and you will have to deal with them during the rest of your life. Better start handling them right now than in several years. In high school, if soemone bothers you, he will likely not belong to your classmates next year, so you have to bear him for only a year. When you are working in a company during several years, you can't quit them assholes as easily, and some are quite the annoying ones.

Okay, "ruining his life" is a joke, but you know what I mean :).

False. I've lived the worst years of my life during secondary school and high school: Some guys didn't like me when I was ten, because I had skipped an entire year due to being good at learning in primary school and that I liked to learn and was curious, so I was constantly asking questions to my teachers. They bullied me, made me feel lonely, and spread rumours about up until high school. I was trying to make new friends back then, but several people were turning their back on me because of the rumours.
I've even seen a guy of my year being rejected in the second year of my engineering school (you know, when people are twenty, twenty-two years old), because even if he had improved his behaviour drastically since first year, everybody was only remembering this period and put him aside, gently but still aside.

The point is, there are bad, nasty people everywhere, and they can harm us in a quite huge amount of ways. Behaving like them is clearly not a good idea, it brings you nothing good, or at least healthy in the long run.
 
I really can't make up my mind on my gender issue. A new song I've been writing lately is probably my favourite thing that I've ever written, and, while it could be seen as only loosely related to the issue, it echoes the overall emotion I've felt up until this day, dysphoria included. I almost never cry, but after I listened back to my first actual live recording of it, I did, quite profusely. After two years of living as a girl, I felt it was indeed a phase and went back. Now, nearly two years later again, I'm starting to feel as if it wasn't a phase and that the conclusions I'd come to two years back were me essentially lying to myself to save money and effort at the expense of my own happiness… but I'm not sure. Every time I think I have myself figured out, a little bit later I find out that I was wrong.

One of the things that made me feel more strongly about this was when I played through the first episode of Life is Strange (the new point and click game), where you play as a shy girl who re-discovers her best friend, someone she hasn't seen in five years. The bond they share is really special, but not abnormally so. What is abnormal is for that kind of a bond to exist between guy friends; it simply doesn't happen, it's different, it's something I've always wanted but for obvious reasons never had.

I guess I'm lucky for having been blessed with a rather androgynous figure (both my brother and I are like that - in childhood, people often couldn't tell if we were boys or girls) which doesn't make it nearly as difficult for me to physically conform to the opposite sex as it is for a lot of people. I can't describe how thankful I am for the fact that my biggest worry, if I'm to transition for real, is my voice, which even then is more feminine in timbre (but not in pitch) than many. But I hope I can figure this out, I'm inspired to. If I had the choice I would've chosen to be born a girl through and through - is that a dead giveaway to the answer, or is it possible I could be happy not being what I would've "liked" to be? I actually hope it's the former, because I think one of the unfortunate deciding factors for me would be knowing how close I can get to being moreorless flawlessly female if I went through with it.

Do you have anyone who can teach you to drive so you don't have to pay for lessons?
 
Ohhhh, Ad. I just want to hug you right now. I'm so, so sorry you're going through this, it must be exhausting in every sense.

All I can say is, your feelings are valid even if you fear they might change again. If you say you would choose to be born a girl, then that isn't to be pushed aside because of an unknowable future. Even if 2 years from now you look back and see this as another phase, it was certainly a very real and visceral one. Of course, only you can determine who you are, what you are comfortable - happy - living out, in what manner etc. However you code yourself you'll have love and support here.

(As an aside, the whole male friendship thing is something I'd always suspected, and always hoped wasn't actually the case.)

This reminds me when I took my license. There were few days that me and my father went to an industrial area full of roads, traffic signals and almost no traffic. The police wasn't going there either so it was a great opportunity to practice some maneuvers like parking, to break progressively, to accelerate progressively, to change the gears, etc.
