Re: Rayman himself
Why wouldn't he? Characters tend to go through redesigns, but they tend to have some core elements kept in place to keep them recognisable.

Re: Rayman himself
He really doesn't, his hair was changed significantly (and I think some other elements). The 3D Rayman who appeared on the Rayman Forever CD was a much more faithful 3D adaptation.

Re: Rayman himself
It seems that Ubisoft is taking desperate actions to make their characters popular again, just like Sega. Exampli granti: Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends by Ubisoft; Sonic Generations and Sonic Boom by Sega.

Re: Rayman himself
Meh, I wouldn't call Origins or Legends desperate at all, it does a disservice to the passionate team that created those titles, and believe me, we've seen the amount of passion Montpellier has had via many communications.

Re: Rayman himself
"Desperate"?
I am speechless…
Seriously, UbiSoft as a whole doesn't really care about Rayman's popularity anymore, the Rabbids have basically taken over as their mascot. (Though that trend may be reversing now, I'm not sure, it was definitely the case when Origins was announced)
And it's "exempli gratia" (!)

It's "exempli gratia"? Woosh, I'm an idiot.
And no, Ubisoft is caring about Rayman most than ever. Plus I'd think Rabbids Go Home wasn't *that* successful.

Re: Rayman himself
Well, yeah, things do seem to have changed since that dark era just before Origins was announced. Still, the Rabbids still seem to be their number-one personalites…
Re: Rayman himself
Okay, so I guess you refering to their most ancient characters, like Rayman.Alex Hofstadter wrote:It seems that Ubisoft is taking desperate actions to make their characters popular again, just like Sega.
Because, basically, at least two franchises can contradict you:
- Far Cry.
- Assassin's Creed (yes, you forgot about the biggest Ubi's success at the moment). They are releasing almost one game per year, because it seems it's not selling a lot
The Rabbids took over their own franchise because Ubisoft realised they were the main focus of players instead of Rayman (he was kinda "out of place" in the games). And about RO and RL, I see it more as games created for living room consoles and multiplayer mode (alongside with the creation of a new engine, something they are fond of making from time to time).
Unity is just out, Far Cry 4 is just out, Rogue will be released next year. Ubisoft decided to make a new Rayman based on UbiArt Framework after the success the previous one had. And even if Legends was pretty good, Ubisoft will make games and then move on. They already have an insane amount of working franchises, and I haven't talked about tons of other games : The Crew, The Division, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and I'm probably forgetting about a few other ones currently in production...Alex Hofstadter wrote:And no, Ubisoft is caring about Rayman most than ever.
So, yeah, they have several locations (Paris, Montréal, Montpellier), but Rayman is not really their main focus right now.
EDIT: Ow yeah, I also forgot about Just Dance 2015. ROFL!
Yes, Rabbids are running low in ammo. People are beginning to get a bit bored by them. It doesn't mean they will disappear forever though (comis are pretty good for what they areAlex Hofstadter wrote:Plus I'd think Rabbids Go Home wasn't *that* successful.

Re: Rayman himself
They seem to be focusing more on Rabbids Invasion since season 2 has started airing already and lately they've mostly been making junior novel type books if anything. All the toys they put out relating to them are LOVELY, but they don't seem to have gone down a treat - when I was in Florida they put a good chunk of it in the clearance sections in Walmart but that meant I got them for way cheaper than anything.
Re: Rayman himself
Ah, okay, my bad. I confused PC's release with console's: Rogue will be on Windows in 2015, but it's already on 360 and PS4.Adsolution wrote:Rogue's already out, been watching my brother play it.saerleiya wrote:Rogue will be released next year.

Re: Rayman himself
I know it's unlikely and I may have said this before, but I'd really like a game that explores Rayman more as a character. One that kinda gives him a more consistent personality. I dislike how in the new games, he's pretty much the same guy as all the other playable characters.

Re: Rayman himself
Agreed, Origin's original premise was to explore Rayman's beginnings and his growth into a hero, as we know, Origins later evolved into a more gameplay driven design. I'd be happy to see something which goes back to how Origins started out and explores Rayman as a character.
Speaking of which, Rayman's twitter tweeted this: https://twitter.com/RaymanGame/status/5 ... 5459732480
I'm not jumping on any hype just yet, as that could mean anything, but at least we know that they're aware of 20.

I agree with both of you. Maybe one day.

Like a motherfucking hammer XD Oh, OCG.
Re: Rayman himself
*Facepalm* OCG, don't create bad notes.
Re: Rayman himself
We need to constantly bug Ubisoft about Smash 4, thats the only way there is some chance we see him. If we are silent, we will never achieve anything.
Ubisoft is only one who can convince Sakurai into adding him. So far Ubisoft said trophies are enough for them for now, but we - the fans must make Ubisoft realize how much we want Rayman as fighter in Smash 4.

Re: Rayman himself
Bombarding them with tweets is not the way to go though. If you really wanted to, try to start a petition and when you get about 3000 signs then tweet them that.
