What exactly happened with R4 anyway? I remember that "almost interview" during which he was attacked by the Rabbids while he was going to talk about Rayman 4. Quite ironic actually, because it was the Rabbids who put Rayman (and the concept of R4 itself) into his momentary coma, only to be brought back with Origins.

R4 became RRR. The reason I recall was due to them getting the Wii Dev Kit, and finding that what they had at that point (which I believe was made using a modified PS2), didn't fit. They scrapped it and changed it into RRR.

I'll see if I can find a source to confirm.

Take a wild guess.
I once contacted Christophe Heral and asked does Ancel have Facebook or some social network account. He told me he doesn't but he did told me that he gave my email to Ancel and that I should hear back from him. Ancel never responded me though. Christophe Heral did however accept my friend request :mryellow:

When I was a weenie I contacted Heral with a similar request, and he responded in a similar way. Lovely man! :mryellow:

The original Rayman 4/Raving Rabbids is ancient history that I've come to accept. I'm honestly more disappointed with what became of Origins -- though that, too, is not worth dwelling on.

If he had Facebook it would be pretty dangerous.

Well, many game developers do have it but I suppose Ancel does not want to be flooded with tons of questions :fou:

Alright, found it, the Wiki has two sources, one from an interview Droolie translated: viewtopic.php?p=642095#p642095
And one from a formal website: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6 ... ss_of_.php (Second question)

Sounds quite interesting indeed! I can't wait to see what he's cooking up for us right now! :D

As I recall, the worlds in Rayman Legends were designed to each tell a different story ("legend"), but only vestiges of the actual narrative ended up in the final game, for whatever reason.

lolwut!? Rayman Legends not being epic!? So fighting a giant Luchador, going to the depths of Hades and back, or infiltrating a secret, underwater base isn't epic because of of its wacky design? D'oh-kay then!

I really found both Origins and Legends bosses not being epic and forgettable. Sorry but they are not even close when compared to bosses in older games.

It's just too random for me to be taken as "epic" in it's entirety. It's wacky with very entertaining gameplay and lots of replay value, but only occasionally epic.
The best examples of epic moments are Dragon Slayer, the Granny World Tour and the place where the entire level is constantly sinking into the quicksand.

Oh puh-lease... Rayman 1 had the least threatening looking (unepic) bosses ever. You got what; a mosquito, a saxophone, and a opera singer. Those maybe memorable, but nowhere near "epic", no matter how much you say it is.

Don't ask me, I almost never played Rayman 1, only the Educational version and I barely have any memories of it to begin with. xD

Hmm, design-wise, I'd be tempted to concede, but I've found myself more satisfied beating R1's bosses, RO and RL's bosses were visually nice, but I feel that the best bosses were probably in Rayman 3 and Rayman 1 when it comes to satisfaction.

Rayman 3 final boss...talk about defeating it being satisfactory...JUST considering the number of phases and overall length, not to mention the epicness one experiences during the first playthrough.

Yeah, but when I'm fighting a boss in RO/RL at least I'm fighting something that actually looks like a threat. When I'm fighting a boss in R1 and sometimes R2, it feels like I'm beating up something from a kids' book.

Which is a very good thing. The older bosses have character. The new ones are uninspiringly "epic", like a Michael Bay film.
