I did, it was a really good port in my opinion, especially because it was inspired by rayman 4 (specially the worlds) and also had the concept of the raving rabbids prototype (100 times better than what we got in the end)DandyGuy wrote: Did nobody enjoy the GBA port?

Re: Rayman Adventures
I personally think that Ubisoft not completely forgetting Rayman is an anniversary present all on it's own.
Re: Rayman Adventures
You think the franchise that put them on the map would get a bit of a nicer present.Bionichute wrote:I personally think that Ubisoft not completely forgetting Rayman is an anniversary present all on it's own.

Ubisoft denied in a magazine interview that it was a reboot back in development of the game.sergiomonty wrote: No, no. I mean, Origins was the reboot.
As for "what is Rayman now", I think as long people keep telling their own opinions out loud (and by this I do not mean spamming the facebook page for a Rayman 4), Ubisoft will be aware to what fans want.
I am waiting for a 3D platformer since 2003 and I will still be.

I should try it someday on my PSP.DandyGuy wrote:Did nobody enjoy the GBA port?Acarr wrote:I don't even have a smartphone good enough to play it...

Re: Rayman Adventures
It was. It forgot entirely about Rayman's original essence and redefined worlds and personalities to turn it into "Ubiart, the videogame".Bradandez wrote:Origins wasn't a reboot.
Not willing to say that's a bad thing... after all, Rayman wasn't a big deal back then compared to other mascots, and Rayman Origins had a huge impact in the modern videogame industry, especially among artists and animators.
Of course you guys are gonna say that it isn't a reboot, because clearly the timeline is somehow intact (well...most of it). But it was the entire change of direction that, for me, made it into a reboot.
Only Rayman, a franchise that evolved as technology advanced from 2d platformers to 3d, would go back to 2d... with a 2d game that doesn't even play similar to the original 2d game. And of course, after 4 entries (I'm also counting the apps), Rayman still sticks to the 2d UbiArt-ish formula.
Saying that Rayman Origins isn't a reboot is like saying that Spyro's Skylanders isn't a reboot just because none of the events from previous Spyro games are denied or replaced, even though the game is a completely different thing. Sure, that would count as a spin-off, but instead, it replaced what originally was there, and that's what the Origins formula is doing to the Rayman franchise.
Re: Rayman Adventures
Let's say it is a reload then, because everything one day is about to get reloaded.

Re: Rayman Adventures
So Rayman 2 is a reboot?
Re: Rayman Adventures
More an update in my opinion, Windows 8 IS a reboot.
Re: Rayman Adventures
Skylanders cannot be a reboot because it is not a Spyro game to begin with. It is its own series that just happened to have Spyro as playable character. It would be like saying NBA Street V3 is a Mario reboot because Mario is playable character in the game.sergiomonty wrote:Saying that Rayman Origins isn't a reboot is like saying that Spyro's Skylanders isn't a reboot just because none of the events from previous Spyro games are denied or replaced, even though the game is a completely different thing.
Re: Rayman Adventures
Rayman Adventures will feature a Kung Foot mini game for multiplayer:

Re: Rayman Adventures
Pretty much, yeah. Completely different style of game, completely different cast of characters, completely different tone. Rayman Origins just did the job to connect the wires and make both somewhat part of the same timeline.Bradandez wrote:So Rayman 2 is a reboot?

Re: Rayman Adventures
Actually, there have been hints in the Skylanders comic books that Skylanders Spyro is actually related to the Classic Spyro, but that's off topic.OCG wrote:Skylanders cannot be a reboot because it is not a Spyro game to begin with. Re: Rayman Adventures
So people here are implying that what Ubisoft says does not matter. Fantastic.
Re: Rayman Adventures
As someone who's been playing Rayman since the first game, Rayman Origins felt like a much needed re-boot of sorts as the rabbids took over.
I feel your pain.Haruka wrote:I am waiting for a 3D platformer since 2003 and I will still be.

Re: Rayman Adventures
It's not a 3D game I'm personally itching for, but more of a change in style. The "wacky" style was great for two games, but Rayman has always been about doing new things. I would love even a new 2D platformer as long as it took the series in a different direction.
Also, I miss David Gasman. But what can you do?

Re: Rayman Adventures
Rayman 2 had to be 3D as it was at a time where you had to go 3D or be unsuccessful... Rayman Origins was literally going back to the original charm of the first game which I loved, especially after all the rabbids crap that they kept churning out. But I agree, Rayman has always changed and adapted to the newest technology etc. so I hope the next big game is at least in a different style.

Re: Rayman Adventures
Nah, keep the wackiness. The CGI trailer for Rayman Legends would be ideal for a 3D game.
Re: Rayman Adventures
I'd be fine if some of the wackiness was retained, but I wouldn't want the game's tone to rely heavily on it. Like have some characters be wacky, whilst others serious.

Re: Rayman Adventures
Rayman has always had some intrinsic wackiness, the level of which simply varies by game.
