How gay is RPC?

I like L, G, B, T people but I hate the term "LGBT community". Why can't they just be non-segregable people who happen to be L, G, B, T. Labels like that just open people up to abuse...

The lack or openness of labels does not change the fact that these people get abused by people who hate those who are like that.

EDIT : I will learn not to make sentences that are just the exact same in terms of message.

Or not abuse people, that's a thing. Also labels are super important to some people.

Actually, people gather in communities all the time. (aren't we on a forum of a, well, “community” about a specific video-game or…?) So why not for sexuality or gender values?
I've seen a lot the opinion "It's okay to be gay or whatever, but you don't have to come in groups and show it off like that!", and I've found it understandable for a while… Then a realized that it could be applied for literally anything: videogames, roleplaying, comics, Japanese culture, sports… People like to share, express and celebrate what they have in common, and create groups around those. (wow, explaining the concept of community with the word “common”… Etymologically, it might be redundant as hell)
So, there are people who are L/G/B/T, and want to gather around this culture. Big deal. It's as much segregating as the gamer community is. For any kind of subject, anyone who disregard a community only because they're not part of it is a moron.
(Just to be clear, I'm only talking here about homophobia, sometime disguised as “I've nothing against homosexuality, but it shouldn't be public, ewwww”)

I always thought we had a great sex education, because it went on for years and was very thourough but it wasn't until I was 16 when I found out that gay couples need condoms too... how fucking fantastic

I have nothing against communities, I'm just a supporter of individualism. To me, "LGBT community" is quite segregative of people who just happen to be homosexual, bisexual or trans, and almost suggests they are outside of society.

Sure, people with commonalities should stick together, but I don't think applying labels does anyone any favours.

At the same time though, I think spreading the awareness of such communities can be beneficial (and a tad bit hectic) in highlighting issues they face. And once the majority of society supports the community, it makes the individual communitee's lives easier too.

I think it doesn't matter too much. I do kinda support a sense of unity around people, similar to the whole "n-word" thing, which is basically just black Americans wanting to create a more unique touch to interacting with each other.

I dunno if you guys follow US politics, but living in Texas and following a presidential race where candidates on both sides are awful bigots, it's a really complex issue that can't be approached in any right way other than just continuing to make younger folks deem it as acceptable and wait for older gens to pass.

Could be worse: Our sex ed was a dude going "you know what sex is, right? cool then we can skip that" and proceeded to preach and fear monger about sex before marriage for an hour or so. Thinly veiled religious agenda, not a single word about how to have sex, and no mention of homosexuality. Although if I'm not mistaken, they're actually banned here from shining a positive light on homosexuality because it could be "offensive to religious beliefs".

I will never forget that sex ed animation, that was shown in our class, where some teens tried to catch a flying vajayjay-shaped butterfly for whatever reason.

But other than that, gay couples were shown just as much as straight couples in the video, which was positively surprising. Nordic countries are known to be much more chill about this stuff; I don't think teachers would easily get away with bigotry here. A lot of different kind of love, but still what I still want to see is at least some kind of mention that asexuality is also a thing.

I agree, I don't think anyone here is. Asexuality in creatures that are normally sexual is a very rare deficiency wherein sexual attraction is missing. Picturing yourself being intimate as gross isn't uncommon, a lot of people feel that way if they are less social or are under certain mental conditions. Asexuality can't be measured on the same plane as heterosexuality and homosexuality, because attraction of males and females both exist and are not totally exclusive to each sex. Asexuality is having neither, which is evolutionarily impractical, making it completely separate and a rare deficiency.

I know semantics matter, but calling yourself asexual in a completely honest way while watching trillions of other usually introverted internet folk calling themselves the same thing, thinking yours is for real, is crazy. Asexuality is not just sex being a lower priority for you, or you presently seeing the idea of you being intimate as gross.

Some people are asexual, but it's so rare. I feel sorry for the true asexuals who have to put up with their condition being bastardised in this way.

I've always seen it as simply not being attracted to physical in and of itself. In the case of myself I can understand the concept of being intimate with personality quirks or another person's mind, but I really don't understand being attracted to someone for their body (which is mildly ironic in my case). Maybe that's actually being Bi and I'm just stupid.
