New site

Can we keep the forum a dark colour like it is already? Or keep the same colour scheme please?

Not to worry, the color scheme is definitely a keeper. :)

Woooo :teuf:

If I have spare time, I might work on a new banner (unless we're no longer having a banner...). Is it possible if I can I have the dimensions?

Here you go.

Something like this is what I'm thinking.

We could either go by "Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, etc" or by actual rank name. Though the former option will be easiest unless the list gets it's arrangement from the selected alignment.

Mmm, I do think names would be easier, although levels would be fine as well, given there'd be a list of levels attached somewhere on that page.

Well what I had meant by "easiest" was less work needed in coding. Though I suppose someone can have goodie / baddie names in the same one. Guess we'll see how that could play out. :)

Could we get notifications when we get tings donated? Who they were from and the reason they did it? I know there's the option to give a reason to donate, but I don't know how to see it?

But I like light colour schemes

Seriously though having an option of a light colour scheme would be really nice.
Is the forum software going to change at all? It seems quite dated when compared to a lot, both in terms of theming and functionality.

I don't think a light colour scheme would be suitable, as we're themed around villains. Maybe it's just me but most forums are white as well and it just hurts your eyes to stare at a white screen for too long...

I agree. I like a dark color scheme too. Anyways I've been doing some stuff in Dreamweaver but can't think of a thing to change here. :confus:

Come to think of it, I do believe that used to be linked on the index page of the forum (back before PHPBB 3), once upon a time. I wonder if Hunch could add it back or put a link to it on the portal so everyone can easily find it.

Interesting idea, we'll keep it in mind!

Most of the software is going to be updated or completely changed. :)

Also, guys, I'm about to work on the MyRSS soon and out of a curiosity, I ran a few queries and found out that out of our thousands of users, only 28 have it configured to something other than the default forum message feed. Most of them have configured it to only display messages from either the English or French forums, and only a handful have actually used advanced options. No one, absolutely no one uses it to display an external feed.

This is why I'd like to know if anyone actually uses the message feed, or the portal at all, and what could be done to make it better. :)

I use the message feed, though perhaps it might be wise to have it as a smaller self scrolled widget as opposed to the all-encompassing column and integral part it currently is.

The RSS feed?

Anyways, I've gone and scoured for any past suggestions I've made, so here's my thoughts for improvements.

I think the portal could do with some more interesting articles, allow it to be more than a mere newspage, give it the capability to link to the various events that happen, not only in the community, but also in the fanbase in general. Perhaps allow for some opinion pieces now and then from various members, something to drum up conversation or interest. Maybe even have a weekly thing, one site I read had a weekly creative roundup of items of interest from the week. Perhaps we could update the ticker in relation to other forum events as well, such as the Quiz, Manipulate the Image, art contest and so forth.

As for the news section, I wonder if we could have a similar system as used here: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/
Each news article is in fact a post on their forum, and their comments are the replies to that post.

I was wondering if we should have a persistent banner across all RPC sites, a bit like Sonic Retro's, where this banner can navigate to every individual area of the site, might be helpful in unifying RPC and its projects.

It could be interesting to showcase things going on in the forum such as the newest SOTM winner?
