When they sell them online on monday I'm gonna do my best, but I've accepted the fact that I'm probably not getting one :(

I'm more curious to see how much the major collectors will pay, given how these are limited edition.

So, aside from the massively convoluted method of getting the chance to purchase a 20th anniversary ps4 in the first place, the website used to do it unsurprisingly wasn't working when everyone tried to refresh it at the same time. Why not just raffle them out or something? It seems like there really is no good way of fairly distributing them if there are only going to be 1000 in the country.

Hmm, it's an intriguing idea, from what I've heard, it's going to extend beyond the realm of the PS4, and act as a gaming on demand platform across many smart devices. All things considered though, I'm still not fond with how proper Backwards Compatibility has gone down the gutter, I can understand why they didn't do the PS3, given how convoluted its hardware is, but surely the PS4 has enough processing power to manage emulating PS1 and PS2 titles?

A 20th Anniversary edition would be auctioned here too, but all the profit would go to solidary causes. I wonder for how much it will sell.

Bumping, it seems like the PS4 is capable of emulating PS2 titles:

Sweet, if it can play the discs themselves then I'm totally much more interested in getting one!

I’ve heard it won’t play PS2 discs. :(

Also, mods, I’d suggest editing the capitalisation in “PlayStation” in the topic name.

It won't play discs because Sony wants to make more money by reselling games digitally.

Hmm, yet the PS4 is capable of reading disks. Remember when backwards compatibility was a gesture, not a monetised money-grubbing scheme?

I sure do. I love how PS2 had native PS1 support, I love how earliest PS3 models played all PS1 and PS2 titles from discs, I love GameCube compatibility on old Wii, I love DS compatibility and even Wii U has decent one when we compare it to PS4 and XB1. You can both buy games digitally but also play from your discs. Now if only GameCube discs were supported too.

I heard they were, I heard they aren't. What also nice about the Wii U Wii Backwards compatibility is that if you have the save file of a physical game you own and buy the digital version, the Wii U system uses the physical game's data. I never knew that seeing as the 3DS doesn't do that (but then again 3DSes use carts not discs).

True, most modern consoles save data to the hard disk, but cartridge based games save onto the cart itself, if memory serves. Still, it does mean that save games can be maintained between consoles, without the need to bring some external storage along.

Seems like Sony's jumping on the remote streaming bandwagon, Remote Play is coming for PC and Mac apparently: http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/27/sony ... s-and-mac/

Or we can just ignore it if it's not bothering anyone.

It is actually a bit bothering me (along with some other wrong capitalizations of different topics) but I guess nobody think of it as too much of a big deal to change it. I guess I won't insist on change myself either.

Rumours are saying that the PS2 "backwards-compatibility" only extends to digitally rereleased copies.

Just can't let folks play their games, gotta squeeze them for every little penny.
