General Pokémon Thread

Not even a trailer or anything to accommodate.

I just love how 'sudden' the announcement was. During the history showing of the series it's just randomly like "AND IN 2016 SUN AND MOON", I think we all saw that coming lol.

I wasn't expecting a 1 hour-long Direct, but maybe a better presentation. The reveal of the starters maybe, or the region (just the name because why not).

This post-Iwata era is not starting well...

In fairness, they probably weren't expecting that leak to come out.

They haven't really stated anything about it being a new gen or not, I'd imagine it is, but I wonder why it wasn't stated flat out.

That was kinda short.

Also for us Americans, tomorrow is Pokemon Day at participating Gamestops. Buy anything Pokemon related and get a free poster.

Because suspense. :P

It confirmed Sun & Moon to be real so i'm not too bothered by it. Only thing that bothers me is nothing to do with the trailer but the fact that pre-orders are up already : http://mynintendonews.com/2016/02/26/pre-orders-for-pokemon-sun-moon-have-already-opened/

Granted they said Holiday 2016 release so it's no that far off but very skeptical for a game where very brief concept art of the game has been shown.

EMERGENCY!

Tomorrow I want to get my first Pokemon game for the 3DS but which one should I get? Pokemon Omega Ruby or Pokemon Y?

I need to know by tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

Omega Ruby. The third generation Pokémon games is the best in my opinion, and Omega Ruby portrays all the great aspects from the original Ruby game. Y is great as well, although I can't say I'm too fond of Pokémon like Trubbish... (Although eventually you will be able to catch those generation Pokémon as well in OR)

I'd say the Gen 3 remakes are more the classic type of Pokemon game, whereas X&Y are kinda the new direction that S&M'll probably follow as well. I dunno I've you played Pokemon before, but I feel like a newcomer might actually lean more towards X&Y, the region is a lot more diverse and stylistic, there's an awesome balance of old and new Pokemon, and it introduced a couple new ideas to the series.

Not that Omega Ruby is bad or something, but they were pretty loyal to the original game and Gen 3 was inevitably just a little less crazy than what followed it. Which is obviously fine for old timers but, but it does mean they had to take a slight step backwards.

Get X/Y Brad.
ORAS are good games I suppose but I personally feel like it's the weakest in terms of the regio design (I don't know why but gen 3 doesn't do it for me)

I really didn't enjoy ORAS to be honest As someone whose first game was pokemon XY, it really felt like a step backwards to have character customization and pokemon variety taken away from me. If you want to play a game that doesn't just feature Grass, Water, & Grass-water types, go with XY.

I'm a little ticked off by people saying "This direct sucked it was short we didn't get any info about sun & moon"

If not for the leak, the Sun & Moon announcement could've made a better impression.
The leak killed it all.

Well... New Pokémon, same behavior. I made a video about it for Pokémon ORAS, but for the occasion I added subs for you.

This is gonna be me come December. How about you?

I guess it is time to start saving 50€ for the end of the year's Pokémon Sun!

I am interested Pokkén but obviously not for the full price. I will wait the necessary before grabbing myself a copy.

And bought Pokémon Blue yesterday for my 3DS. :)
