Antibiotic resistance has been an issue for quite some time now, it's terrifying when you give it a thought, but it's ultimately out of our hands. One can only hope there's enough competence at the scale needed to ensure that we're not going to end up screwing ourselves over.

Though given how there's plenty of other ways that can happen, who knows?

Yeah, that's really the problem here. Call me a hypocrite, but as much as I do give a shit about these things and want to see people pressuring government to just fucking do something, I really think they're just gonna let it unfold until it literally starts affecting people on the predicted scale you see in these articles.

I mean, we already knew climate change was going apeshit about three decades ago - we're doing virtually nothing. Sure some countries are, and they're commendable efforts, but then you look at the US (which is kind of a top contributor here), and your hope just sinks immediately. It's not even just a country that's late to jump on board, it's not even considering that - Obama just gave an OK to more offshore drilling, Trump doesn't believe it exists, and Clinton's record is a disaster on the issue. Kinda leaves you with a chill down your spine.

I can't confirm, but since we're asked to perform military task including sleeping in the woods and wearing helmets, I think it's to be more practical and hygenic.
That does make sense. Best of luck to you on Tuesday!

Have you not ever felt a desire to stand yourself, Keane, or even lead a campaign? You seem to be particularly critical of global politics and clearly mean what you say so I don't see what's stopping you. You could alternatively move to the UK and join the Green Party, who seem to share similarly strong anti-establishment views (although they do have a reputation for being vegan hipsters, so you might find them unappetising!)

Good luck to Pirez from me too!

Yeah something like that, I'd be really interested in joining some sort of Fight For The Future-esque organisation. I kind of disdain the idea of working a job that doesn't somehow relate to the shit I rant about every other day, so I dunno, some sort of journalism or activism would be interesting.

Also, I'm planning to start cutting out meat from my diet 5 days a week because I hate the meat industry so much, so I guess I'd fit right in.

I appreciate the support from all of you guys, but it appears to be dead for me. Better luck next time.

So.. uhm.. is anyone a fan of Gorillaz here?
Just wanted to say that Jamie Hewlett has been posting a lot of awesome Gorillaz pics recently, all from phase 4 of course, and I'm pretty hyped and hope that the new album will be released soon.

Yeah should be cool. I'm still kind of waiting for Damon to drop that really mindblowing record I know he can produce, and Gorillaz has always been home to some of his best efforts imo. I'm guessing it'll drop sometime this year, a summer release would be great.
