I ought to edit my last post - that was incredibly unexpected.
Seriously though, browsing social media and even this thread is giving me diseases. The only party that will be significantly affected by the results will be the European Union itself. The Pound will drop (duh) and productivity may fall, but economics is just a big game of swings and roundabouts, and frankly I'm more concerned with cohesiveness of society among people of divided opinion.
 
I am a bit confused about Cameron's resignation, will finding his successor involve a vote, or is that for the Conservative Party to decide on?
 
I'm a pit peeved off about this whole referendum. It seems kinda stupid that the result actually counts when it is that close (people are petitioning that a 60-40 split should be necessary for a result to actually count). I wish I was able to vote but I can't by just a few months. It is my generation that will have to face the results of this decision the longest and yet there are a sizeable proportion of us who could not vote on what could end up being one of the most important decisions the country has made.

More seriously, other than the pound crashing and me losing money, I'm really not sure what the right decision was. Clearly, Brexit is a shame as it shatters decades of integration into a structure that allows us to be stronger together, but on the other hand EU has its flaws and I can understand some people are fed up with those. But would it not have been better to try and solve these problems rather than bail altogether? Easier said than done maybe, but still, might have been the best solution here.

I've always been mostly on the remain side because from what I could understand leaving EU means Westminister get's to re-write all the policies that the EU once provided us with, and as someone who as always been a strong supporter of Scotland wanting to do their own thing that's not something I want to happen. :P

Goes without saying I do hope another Scottish referendum goes through as much as I empathise with whoever has to live in the (potential) mess that is the current UK.
 
I'm a little in-between the two sides, I can understand why many people voted remain and, yeah, making that kind of decision based on a 51% win with supposedly about 75% turnout is hardly "the UK having made up its mind." I don't get why they'd let people decide on this in the first place, now that I've been reading up on the whole thing it's so much complicated shit that I really doubt most people fully understand the consequences/benefits of each side. :roll: Not that I'm trying to discourage democracy or anything, but these votes have a habit of under-educated people mixing with biased media...

That being said, a narrative of the leftists who picked to leave did really spark my interest. I wasn't aware of the EU's control regarding the included nations, and I can get behind the sentiment of siding with this so to prevent corporate influence in the UK from spreading. I've even heard people voted to leave to prevent the TPP, which is a big plus if that turns out to be a true result. If I had the opportunity to get money out of government here at the expensive of economic downturn even for years, I'd vote that shit in a heartbeat.

I've always been very confused about the nationalists' point of view when it comes to the EU. I'm not dissing anyone who wants independence, nor anyone who wanted out of the EU, but why would you want to be part of the EU if you the argument for independence really is about democracy? Why would you want to come out of something moderately undemocratic, and re-enter into something that is even more undemocratic?

Of course it could be a strategic thing to promote divided opinion. But it's one thing for the electorate to exercise their right to vote tactically, but another for a party to encourage it under wraps, which if is the case I would find quite objectionable.

Sadly, I think that's precisely why the leave side won. I say sadly wholeheartedly, because although I support the exit I don't support the reasoning behind say 20% of the out voters. Uneducated, Trump-esque, bigoted, wrinkley-faced morons have dominated the media on this side, and I really worry about what message that gives out to immigrants, investors, people who voted out for legitimate reasons etc.

I can only think the want to bail instead of solving problems is caused by EU slowly becoming more and more toxic. EU would probably only be willing to solve issues under threat of something like Brexit, which I don't think is something one would want to be a part of; even one of the heads of the EU said it was a sinking ship.

I think it's good for Britain in the long run.

It doesn't matter how many times you call Trump a bigot, he keeps on rising because people dislike the status quo and are willing to set aside their values purely to "shake things up." Not that Trump isn't just as much a panderer with empty promises (he's the status quo wrapped in fake populism), but there's a reason why the supposedly logical Clinton campaign is failing on all levels to gain the votes of millennials, independents, etc. :roll:

Which brings it all down to a really terrifying view of where things are standing right now: The TPP/TTIP is gonna pass and elevate corporations to governmental status, Net Neutrality is going to be under fire with lobbyists feeling that apparently only the upper classes deserve an uncensored internet, and nothing is being done about climate change - these things are just making it all much worse. :boon:

That's what I've been saying since the beginning, any attention given to Trump helps him, and that's the case for all those videos supposed to show how bad he or his supporters are. Her wouldn't be anywhere as far as he is now without the likes of BuzzFeed giving him more attention than he deserves.

Though, to be honest, the lack of decent alternatives was a great factor too.

Probably because Scotland would have more control over its own affairs as a independent country in the EU rather than a subdivision of the UK? Not that I have an opinion on Scottish independence, but the UK's position on the matter sounds pretty much like this:

Here's some shitty maths:

Hourly minimum wage is apparently 9.47€ in France (link). Assuming flood control is on, you can make a post to earn 5 tings every 5 (?) seconds, so you earn one ting a second. 3600 tings an hour at 9.47€, or 1€ is worth around 380 tings.

On that page it says Russian minimum wage is 84€ a month though, or approx. 0.47€ an hour. In that case one euro is worth 7659 tings. :oops2:
