I like the captaincy idea, but the issue comes in timing. Bearing in mind that there's always going to be a timezone problem, if a question is submitted, and a captain is offline, then the point will end up going to the other team. Allowing any team member to answer alleviates the timezone problem somewhat, while the answer limit ensures that answers are thought on rather than impulsive.
That being said, I appreciate that it doesn't really invoke a team based game. Perhaps I could come up with an elimination format where I ask each team a set of questions, correct answers giving points, and incorrect answers deducting points. I do the same with the other team with another set of questions. The overall round winner will then be the one who gets the most points. This would allow for a strategic and more team focused approach, but the issue then is coming up with questions. Like I've stated before, I only have 73 banked, and I don't know if I'd be able to come up with a sufficient amount in good time.
EDIT:
Right, I've given it some further thought:
- Each team will have their own set of questions through the week, since it's separate for each team, I'll only do a small amount for each set, about 10.
- Any incorrect questions won't give point penalties, the questions will instead be put to a new third set.
- At the end of the week, there'll be a final chance to get points in a head to head session, the incorrect answered questions in the third set will be used.
- In the event of a tie of max points, there'll be a fastest finger session, where each team will nominate one member. These members will be asked to confirm a time for them both to be online. During this confirmed time, I'll put up a question asking said members to put some items in order. The member who does so first will win the round for their team.
