Players who got a lot of diamonds and made videos and of their runs and were generally active could get promoted to VIP status. There has however not been any new VIP players since Ubi-Mya was CM, and that was quite some time ago now. I don't believe it's be possible to get a VIP status any longer, sadly enough. You can however get Ubi-Ray in the PC version through save file hacking since he was fully coded in the game (he was meant to be used only be the developers).

Yeah. There was a member (I can't remember who) who found the value corresponding to the selected costume. He changed the value in my file, which made the game start with Ubi-Ray when launching.

thanks my fav animation is when Rayman just was sleeping without his hands and the world was in trouble and the hoodblaster trow a bomb on the barrel :D

Thanks! There are still a few character sprites missing, most notably the iOS exclusive ones, so if anyone has right tools to get them that'd be great! I have the sprites extracted from the files, though the different parts of the characters are in a mess, and I don't have any good tools for piecing them together.
Also, does anyone know how you got Shadow Ray in Adventures? I remember purchasing him using gems a while back, but he doesn't seem to be in the game now.

Well I never got the kung foot trophy so I'll happily get a shit score in a daily challenge if you can help me with that one too. I sent you an invite.

Though I most certainly won't bother with the other remaining one, reaching the last level of awesomeness. :lol: I just checked and I'd need another 144 gold cups for that. :tssk:

I also noticed that I hadn't played the game since October 2013... now that's a while ago.

Well it was a nice game but I got bored of it real quick and stopped playing it as soon I got to a million Lums.

By the way, since I played it yesterday for the first time in almost four years, I thought I'd revisit the music levels, which are pretty much the coolest parts of the game. However, when playing Gloo Gloo, I was a bit frustrated by some gameplay elements. Interestingly enough, they reminded me of the repeated criticism of the original game I've read and heard lately, because the first Rayman was reproached for the same things!
First of all, you can of course get killed by the left side of the screen. I remember someone posting a video of a known YouTuber in which he was playing one of the auto-scrolling sections in the original Rayman, died for being too slow, and ranted at the game after that. I'd love to know that he thinks of Legends then!

Another thing is the trial and error pattern, that sergio often claimed is present in the first game:

That's the only example of that he ever gave, and it's completely invalid anyway as those Tings clearly indicate that it's safe to go. In fact, the only example of trial and error I can think of in the entire game is that infamous sliding section in Pencil Pentathlon.

Back to Legends, at 0:51 in the video for example, you have absolutely no way to know that spiky fish will fall from the sky and that you're only safe well under the surface. You'll have to die to find out (or just be really lucky) and that happens all the time in that level. I didn't have any problems with the other music levels though.

My point? Not that the gameplay of the original Rayman is perfect, especially by today's standards. Just that people often criticize it for containing stuff that they don't mind in Rayman Legends, and that's pretty hypocritical.

I rather experienced it in Origins. Near to the end of the game, I frequently got killed by random happenings, and I think it was mainly because the environment and the actual "physically existing' elements couldn't be divided.

Maybe it's only me, but I had to die a lot of times in the boss fights to know how the enemies move, because it was impossible to predict for the first play. It was really frustrating when I damaged them, and they suspiciously jumped RIGHT where I was standing. And it happened a lot of other times, not only in boss fights, I often got killed by the environment.

It rather wasn't a question of skill, you MUST die and restart the level again and again, to know the safe route. It's quite unfair, and you don't feel like you're so skilled, you have good reflexes or something.

I don't think it's unfair, because that's how their gameplay was designed. There's a reason you have unlimited lives. I personally quite like this sort of gameplay, though I find that in Origins it's so easy for the most part that you don't even realise the bosses don't just have really bizarre AI.

Yes, I think Origins/Legends are intentionally trial and error. The game would probably feel significantly shorter and easier if you were able to complete all the levels without needing a couple retries. It makes the game more rewarding too, getting a little further each time as your brain maps the segment until you can make all the precise jumps and follow the rhythm makes it feel like you really mastered the level.

I agree, I would never describe Rayman 1 as being too heavy on trial and error, just difficult. The only level where that really comes into play is Eat At Joe's, but aside from the dark segment at the beginning that level is pretty tolerable once you get familiar with it - and realise you can just duck under the fish, rather than waste all your continues on it.

Like Ad said, it's not a bad thing anyway as you have unlimited lives and a lot of checkpoints.

I never found the dark segment really hard. When you look at it, it's an incredibly simplistic level and you can always throw your first far enough to know where you're going. As for the last level, the large-mouthed fish will most certainly kill you the first time, but with good reflexes you'll either duck or punch them straight away, and it would be quite dumb not to try that after a few deaths.

I got really lazy to get the Level 11 in PS3, but I have it in both PC and Wii U versions.

It would be neat if in the Switch version they were revising the necessary score to get the final level of Awesomeness. I still think that Ubisoft exaggerated in the number. Thanks to the ridiculous amount of time I was forced to play the challenges in order to obtain it I got fed up of the game much quicker than what I would have wanted. And many players give up in the way too.

Clearly, that amount is ridiculous. I've never managed to get a platinum cup in the challenges, so there's no way I'm ever getting the dozens I need to get there.

I checked the record for amount of Lums collected in the game, and this one guy has his amount at 1,000,009,984. His level of awesomeness, 2. The PC hacker at it again!
