I mean, I'd find Jano a more suitable top-level baddie than Ales. And that's not because the Jano battle was so amazingly memorable (because it's not that good, really. I mean, honestly, come one, look at it), but because Jano is an incredibly awesome character.
I don't have the same feeling for Ales.
However, I must agree with Brad, that if we're going to put "logic and consistency" in the ranklist by making all the top tiers the main Rayman games' Rayman vs. that game's main villain, it makes no sense to not put Ales alongside Rayman from Legends, just because we don't appreciate Ales' design.
On the other hand, the ranklist is the ranklist and that's ultimately something that we ourselves curate and put together - if many more people dislike having "a Teensie" as the top rank as opposed to something like a mutated Knaaren, that's something we can tailor the ranklist towards, since that's what the community wants. Even if it defies logic and causes inconsistencies, and is a little bit racist towards Teensies.
But it depends: what do we appreciate more: internal consistency towards the top-most ranks, or "awesome factor"? Personally I'm more of an "awesome factor" guy. Being able to look up to badass ranks makes you want to rank up really badly (which is neat for driving people to participate in Ting hoarding games like TTQ and Record Day, and posting sprees, which are tools in helping bringing us closer together as a community). However, I totally get Brad's point on consistency and bias, and agree with him on that front.
