Caturday is the only way.
Even if my last one looked like a dumpster wrapped in sadness.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Agreed…
Anyway, let's get this new poll going now, because if I leave it till tomorrow I'll only forget! So, it had been preordained, this one's about having children. "I already have" is there to cover all bases, even though I'm pretty sure that's not actually the case for anyone here…

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I don't really care or have an ultimate desire. I would have kids with my future partner who definetely wants to have them but if they don't then I wouldn't be bothered either.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Yeah absolutely. My husband and I plan on having about one or two kids for sure 10 years from now. That's about that for planning in regards to that, though.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Actually... Yes ! But not in the usual manner, I'd like to be the father of a clone. I suppose science will make progress in the next 30 years so I don't worry about that, also I'm not really hasty about it
I'm also really extremely tempted to exploit a running gag here, but it became really old lately and would sound mildly insulting for some. But I think just evoking that possibility already says way too much.
Also... Why the fuck that cat is watching so deeply inside me ?! I swear that after looking at his eyes for 5 seconds I have fricking shivers. Well, at least now I'll be able to quote Barney from HL2.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
On the topic of offspring, given how genetic modification is starting to gain traction. If you were to have offspring, would you have them modified in such a manner? And if so, what would be the limit? Would you simply make them resistant to disease and illness? Or if ethics allowed, try to improve on them?
It's something which I haven't really thought much about, but with this discussion, I was reminded how we touched on this back in high school.

I'd like children one day, though I wouldn't mind adopting. Earth seems a little crowded after all.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I would really like to have children, but not too many. Three would be my most preferred number of children to have.

Actually... Yeah, at least if it is without any danger.Master wrote:On the topic of offspring, given how genetic modification is starting to gain traction. But... It would be hard to improve myself cause I'm already goddamn near perfect.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
eeeeyah? I don't know, I'm pretty in-between wanting kids and wanting more free time/dollaridoos. Definitely not if I don't have the proper finances for it.
I also think from a moral standpoint I might lean towards adoption, thinking in terms of overpopulation and climate change. I would rather not contribute to those things anymore than already is.

I'm pretty surprised that pretty much no one here is concerned about preserving the family's genetic patrimony. Is that so much of a forgotten value recently or is it just that you dudes here consider themselves so much as douchebags that they would be unable to withstand the company of their children ?

Or perhaps we're more concerned with wellbeing, kids aren't cheap. I certainly don't want to start having offspring if they're just going to suffer because there's not enough income to support them.

I don't really understand how preserving your genetics is a value, I'd think your ability to raise children and the way you raise them would be much more of a value and much more of a factor for whether they'd grow up to be douchebagsincognito wrote:I'm pretty surprised that pretty much no one here is concerned about preserving the family's genetic patrimony. Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Don't get me wrong, I don't talk about the choice of of having a children or not, biological or not, I'm talking about the preference most members of this board seems to have towards adoption rather than biological legacy.Master wrote:Or perhaps we're more concerned with wellbeing, kids aren't cheap. I won't start that discussion, since it is again, getting into being considered as a primitive man of the Old World inferior to you modrern and fancy individuals.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Sometimes I feel a desire to have my own kid (probably not more than one) but then I quickly realize just how badly I could screw them up. I'm in agreement with the moral imperative being towards adoption moreso than procreation but somehow I don't see myself being a good enough parent to actively enter into that arrangement. But still I don't know if I'll always feel this way.
BUMP: Right, the next poll is up, and the question is quite "Pacific".

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Never heard of this one, though I have heard many times people say "generally" instead of "genuinely".
Also slightly different, but I think anyone who uses "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" is in need of a hefty crucifying.

Never heard about the generally/genuinely confusion. Though I suppose Miriam O'Callaghan keeps us all in line over here! Also agreed about the crucifixion.
BUMP: All right, I lifted this one from Matyuv's old poll thread, since he never concluded it.
Also I need to stop writing these things late at night.
