Even if it were modded onto the PS4, I'd imagine it'd not perform very well. The PS4 is not the same machine as the PS3, the only way it could play PS3 games is by emulation. And thanks to the PS3's complicated hardware, it'd take a significant amount of power to emulate the PS3 in a satisfactory way. It seems that there is a PS3 emulator for PC, but from what I've seen, it's not all there yet.

If it didn't work I would smash my PS4 to pieces and then replace it with a PS3!
 
If you do that, please upload the video of you smashing it. Course, just trading it in for cash or trade credit at GameStop would be the wiser decision. Which would be my choice of recommendation.
 
Eh, your money at the end of the day. If smashing it is how you choose to end your investment, by all means do so.

1. No I said that because I wanted to use my harmful words.
2. Yes I will trade it at GameStop and then after I trade it I will be able to get my $598 dollars back
3. Well I can't upload my YouTube channel anymore because my videos disappeared my subscribers went down to 3 and the channels I subscribed to was gone so I am going to start uploading again in 2018 (or 2019)
 
Those backward compatibility issues are annoying, so I have a PS2, a PS3 and a PS4 now.
 
I actually don't think I'll get a PS4 anytime soon seeing as the games I wanted most are coming to PC anyway (Ni no Kuni 2 and Fractured But Whole). I'm somewhat happy with my PS3 except it doesn't support ITV player anymore (ie my Paul O'Grady for the Love of Dogs player).

PSVR is cool though.

The only problem I have with the PS4 is that it can't read CDs. In the Major League Baseball video games you can add your own music tracks to the game. When they were releasing the titles for the PS3, you can easily do so by adding the tracks from the CD(s) to the system. Can't do that on the PS4. Have to buy an external hard drive that costs 39.99 on eBay. Not worth it, even if the soundtracks on almost all of the MLB games are crap.
 
You do realize that the only reason the PS3 has blu-ray support is because one of thier 2 rivals, microsoft declined the offer for blu ray support for thier XBAX 360.

I wasn't talking about Blu-rays though. CDs.
 
I'm pretty sure the PS3 would have supported Blu-Ray regardless, especially since Blu-Ray was being helmed by Sony in the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD format war. And even disregarding that, there was the draw of being able to have more content on discs compared to the DVD standard used in the PS2 era. If memory serves, some of the bigger 360 DVD titles ended up being put on two discs, such as Mass Effect 2 & 3.

As for the lack of CD support, it might be similar to how Windows 10 isn't able to play DVDs by default, where you have to download that functionality. If memory serves it was due to some licensing costs, and them not feeling it was worth paying for them. I'm only speculating though.
 
but tbh some of the the things that can scew over a ps3 or ps4 is more complex to fix yourself than simply waiting what feels 1/2 a year just to send it for repairs (hint hint: disk reading errors with double eject disk sound)
 
Well there is for LittleBigPlanet2 that gives create mode. that's if you don't wan't to install CFW on your ps3 and potentially fuck over your ps3
