I have no ideas myself, so why not? That's the 13th poll. The Jonster wrote:Here is my suggestion for the next poll: Which laser-washing powder (from Rayman 3 of course) do you like the most?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I'm going with vortex. From the moment he spins around and almost throws up to using the vortex on enemies I just choose it as my favourite. For me it was either that or HMF.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I was honestly never too fond of how Rayman 3 decided to handle power ups, because unlike Rayman 2 which gave Rayman the power fist until he got hit on 3 occasions, the Laser-Washing Powders are timed, which makes them religated to only the certain location they're given in, and I think this made them more situational then useful.
Anyway, I'll go with the Lockjaw, since that's the only one closest to the usefulness of the Power Fist in Rayman 2 with it's extended time.

I like it conceptually, but the problem with it is how easy it is to get hit while trying to squash enemies.Steo wrote:I'm going with vortex. From the moment he spins around and almost throws up to using the vortex on enemies I just choose it as my favourite.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I guess. Just if I have to pick one I just think it's kinda cool. I get what you mean though with the timing. The helicopter one runs out far too fast to be much use really.Greeness wrote:I like it conceptually, but the problem with it is how easy it is to get hit while trying to squash enemies.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
The Throttle Copter is the only one where I think It's excusable, since it doesn't have multiple usages and has the possibility of breaking the game without that restriction, however something different like a usage meter and something that stops the player from breaking the game would've been indeed better.Steo wrote:The helicopter one runs out far too fast to be much use really.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Yeah like, maybe a zone where it expires and work anymore of you leave that area, then if you fly too high it won't go any higher to stop you getting outside the map would've been a better implementation of it.Greeness wrote:The Throttle Copter is the only one where I think It's excusable, since it doesn't have multiple usages and has the possibility of breaking the game without that restriction, however something different like a usage meter and something that stops the player from breaking the game would've been better.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I chose the Lockjaw since I like the colors and it's the power that I can get the most usage out of for comboing since it lasts the longest. I admit that i like both this power and the Vortex because of their colors.

Oh yeah I also like the colour green. It's my favourite colour (vortex)

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
If we were basing this on just colors alone, my favorites, in order, would be this:
1. Lockjaw
2. Vortex
3. Heavy Metal Fist
4. Shock Rocket
5. Throttle Copter
1. Lockjaw
2. Vortex
3. Heavy Metal Fist
4. Shock Rocket
5. Throttle Copter

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I'm going with Lockjaw as well because it lasts longest.
Also yeah, the Throttle Copter's a complete ripoff. I saw it in the manual and thought "Cool!", then I actually obtained it you-know-where and was disappointed by how short a time it lasted. Yeah, that's to stop people breaking the game, but maybe the game should have been designed differently in that case? Rayman 1 and 2 had no problems designing stages with infinite helicopter, so why must it be so limited in Rayman 3? Wasted opportunity IMO.
Reminds me of an idea I had for a minigame years ago, where an entire area would be bathed in magnified and collimated Throttle Copter laser, and then characters would have to race to the end using the helicopter. Silly enough idea, but I liked it at the time!

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
It's sad because when using the infinite power up glitch with the Throttle Copter, control wise it actually feels like an evolution of the helicopter power up from Rayman 2, really there's a lot of wasted potential with the Laser Washing Powders.
Like, imagine if for example we had something akin to the Mega Man or Ratchet and Clank games where Rayman would be able to switch between different formations in real time, it would've added much more variety to the combat and Rayman's abilities as a whole.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Yeah it's a shame really. The throttle copter literally lasts for about 5 seconds if even that long. I guess if they addressed the glitches allowing you to get outside the map then that wouldn't have been a problem. Just some laziness I guess.
There's a glitch with look mode on Land Of The Livid Dead that let's you fall under the water but you can't really do anything except fall downwards until you release the button, but you go way under the map.
Maybe they limited the throttle copter for a similar reason. It would've been great to have the infinite flying like Rayman 1 and 2.

I do think there was a lot of wasted potential for those powers, I hope I can see them being used again in the future, though I don't have high hopes
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I was going to say 3 seconds but didn't think it was that ridiculously short. Surely they could've at least made it last 10 seconds instead of 3 with about 30 of them right beside each other.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I can think of a few places off the top of my head where that happens, and I think in almost all of those places, putting all of the cans was just too excessive. Will we actually need all of these cans to actually fly up to wherever we're going? No, probably not. It felt to me like a throw-away compared to all the others, where at least in most cases I think all the other powers serve some purpose to being there, hence why the throttle copter is my favorite power-up in this game.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
They could've at least made there be one longer lasting throttle copter power up in those scenes that lasted longer than the rest but it disables outside the zone. I remember one part in the game having an extremely excessive amount of yellow cans.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I “think” i might have an idea which area. Hmmm....honestly I have no idea how many yellow cans were in the section of the tower that I speak of (which would be stage 2 of tower of the Leptys). In one section the yellow cans also came with a bit of an excess of blue cans also.
