Hmm, wonder if one can 100% Record Day? I seem to be playing it in hard mode.
Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
I think it's doable. The 100M mark is when you achieved every little objective during the record day.
Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
Only when the game is worth the effort

A mixture of everything. If the Game is worth the effort, I'll always try to go for 100% until I get bored with it.
Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
Record Day is game I will for sure never beat 100%

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
Bumping because I think this could be interesting.
Last weekend I tried to get a couple more 100%s under my belt. I finally got all secrets in the Ball, but of course there are plenty of other achievements in that game which I probably won't bother with (especially since I switched from the Steam version to the GOG one thus effectively forfeiting all my old progress). I then attempted to 100% BG&E but I stupidly missed the space whale. I also somehow failed to trigger the secret message to Jacques Exertier's brother despite having the instructions in front of me.
Other than that, since last posting here, I got 700/700 Teensies in Rayman Legends and 100%ed the achievements on Half-Life 2: Episode One (both late 2014).
Overall, I think this means I'm sticking with the option "Only when the game is worth the effort", which I feel it was in these cases.

Eh, nowadays I only play a game while it stays entertaining. I leave many games unfinished lately

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
I used to go for 100% when I was younger, but now I'm a lot more busy it's very rare that I do. I will, on the other hand, almost always finish a game I've started (I mean story mode), even if I don't like it that much: just like movies, I'm still curious to reach the end of it.
I play most of my games in normal difficulty, and won't be bothered to play in hard mode if it's just too hard, like in Resident Evil: Revelations. I like some challenge at times, for example I played Dishonored without alerting any enemy (ghost rank), except for the introduction level because I didn't know about it. I would have had to restart the game from scratch to get the achievement, and you bet I didn't.
Every now and then I'll attempt to speedrun an old Resident Evil, and I've obtained pretty decent times but I've never aimed for a world record. I just don't have the skill, time or motivation.

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
Hey, this still holds almost entirely true. Though I wouldn't say that I always pick the hardest difficulty, it depends on the genre. For FPS, definitely.Adsolution wrote:As much as I'd like to say yes, I picked 'until I get bored', because it's true. There are some games I've tried to aim for a hundred percent on and do, others I've almost gotten there but then just stopped, and there are others which I haven't even finished the main game to, one of those unfortunately being Legends. I'll get back to it at some point. One thing is for sure though, I will always play on the hardest difficulty if available, and I won't lower it, even if lowering it would enable me to keep going enough to get 100% in the end. I have the most fun with incredible challenge, and I feel like I'm cheating if I play on a lower difficulty.

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
I'm in between not leaving a thing behind and only completing story mode. My goal for every video game, is to complete it 100%, but sometimes I just don't have the commitment level high enough to complete every single objective. The only franchises I do try the best to complete 100%, are Crash Bandicoot, and Rayman, and more than not I do. Other than those two, I tend to stick to story mode only.

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
It depends on the game, I tend to be more inclined to 100% a game if it has bearing on the lore or plot. I don't tend to do so if it's for the sake of achievement, unless I particularly enjoy the game and feel like the journey to 100% is worthwhile. Rayman titles, barring the first one, aren't usually pretty difficult to 100%, and I've managed to 100% all five of the main series titles (trophies/achievements notwithstanding - Legend's online players are too skilled for me to get all of its achievements).

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
Bump.
Personally for me there are several factors that determine whether a game is worth finishing at 100% or not.
1. There is other hidden content to be discovered after the main/game story is finished. More content means I'm more likely to go for it.
2. It's part of my favorite series. (This does not always work, cuz there are some Mario games I just don't want to finish completely. Same with Pokemon)
3. The game itself amazed me to continue. (Japanese RPGS fell under this category for me often
)
If I do push myself to do it, I keep focused and make sure I don't miss anything, since I don't like it when I finish a game I'm dedicated to and still have something missing. So I'll put myself on it depends if the game is worth completing.
