Yeah I guess like Maz said, slow and steady wins the race :)

I'm sure I'll get better but the fact that my score is only 442825 shows how much the other scores need improvement too with CF only being 49000

Oh I'm sure you'll get there. I'm not really tht much farther myself considering that I haven't played the game in weeks now.

I should have at least double the score on CF for a start but then again I think I only played through that level normally to end up with a conpketed save file.

Like I've said before, this actually is a pretty decent score for someone who just started a few weeks/months ago. :)

When I get back to playing this game, the first thing I want to do is practice doing the shoe kart game. Those are NOT fun for me. Stop running away you crazy shoe. Then again, I suppose I shouldn't be ramming the accelerator haha :oops2:

Yeah about that, if you accelerate you only get 3 hits, so does that mean it's better to do it the real slow annoying way and get 10 hits?

Scoring discussions taking over the general R3 thread, what a time to be alive :P

You know that the shoe has 10 health. What you should do is hit it 8 times slowly, no matter if it combos or not. Once you get the 9th hit, the Shoe will only survive one more hit anyway, so you go full throttle and try to get at least the last hit in Combo.

However, try not to put too much focus on the Shoe. Once you get to the higher Scores, the one in part 1 of The Longest Shortcut is pretty much the only Shoe Race in the game that actually matters (unless you aim for, like, 900k, then the one in TOTL1 might matter, too). For now, maybe just try the method I explained above where you will get 330+ Points out of the Shoe, that's reasonable enough.

Alright thanks. I guess the next thing I have to try is the combo on part 2 with the Tribelle and Matuvu. I know I'm not going to be able to get both but I guess if I can at least get the Tribelle in combo I might still get an okay score for now.

I'll keep this in mind too, thanks! :)
The first phase of the Longest Shortcut was the only one that was bugging me.

The easiest way for me to grab Tribelles is running from a short distance and then helicoptering over to them. I somehow found this method to work well for me, with maybe a few exceptions here and there. :mryellow:

Oops, i guess this is sort of my fault for bringing a discussion that should be in the other thread here, just seem to have forgotten about it :oops2:

Well for Tribelles I usually just hold the strafe button and walk into them. Seems to work fine.

I got 88991 that time. It still needs improvement but again that's an improvement of 6000.

So I'm currently playing in the BOM, phase 3 and I found this interesting shot. (GC version)
Why are there yellow gems behind this tree??? I was only able to grab one...

Well I can now see why my score on DOTK was bad. I got 70000 and that's still bad enough that on 2 parts the game said 67%

I don't understand the second green gem on though on part 6 I thonk it is, there's only one green gem in my game.

Still find my thoughts coming back to this game now and then, even now. The Final Boss still really sticks out to me, especially it's musical themes. It's practically a whole suite!

Unfortunately I don't know what's the deal with these gems. However it's possible to get both; you can see it here.
There are actually a few other hidden gems in this part. I've posted some pictures in the scores topic, and another video, just in case you're interested. :)

I guess you're talking about the gem in the cage in part 7, right? The point is that you have to break the cage after defeating all the Stumblebooms, otherwise the teensie will just give you a green can. In order to knock the Stumblebooms off their stilts you have to stand underneath them for one or two seconds. You can see it here.

Guess i have to return to the BOM at some point and get those. :) I tried like several billion times to get them even though it's just two gems. :D
It's no problem though after seeing the video there's a lot more mysteries to this level than I initally believed.

No way, I never even knew about these, probably because they pretty much can't be seen through normal gameplay, I guess. Maybe that's just me though :)

Ah, I was wondering about that too, when Ray mentioned it in the first Riddles of the Glade, so I was curious which cage it was. :)

Ah that makes perfect sense thanks. I still don't know if I'll be able to get it in combo since it looks a bit of a challenge to perfect but either way it's still 3000 points I didn't have :)

Oh yeah and it's part 7. I was tired last night and the word "thonk" might give that away ;)
