Re: Rayman 2 Remake
I know, I was stupid. I'm buying a SSD now. And also I'll copy all the things I made to a cloud :p

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Okay then! When I asked about underpowering/overheating, I thought you'd had two different HDDs die on you!
Re: Rayman 2 Remake
I'm still here!!!
Right now i'm working on the Woods of light bridge here:

i made that each stone it's own individual mesh to add depth and... realism? i dunno i prefer this look.
and this is the original object:

it's the pc version, it seems that i can't acces the area in the ps2 version...
(it's still in WIP, i still need to work on it), if you need a collison model let me know
I'm migrating the created assets from my laptop (poor bastard) to my tower, it would also speed things up a lot if i had the models, creating them from scratch are very time consuming.
As for what versions i am basing my assets: Pc and PS2, i don't have acces to the dreamcast version anymore. And every other version uses very low res assets (like ps1 and ds) that i don't use them.
I also upscale certain textures because 1999 assets are very low resolution, they aren't final but modeling flat textures into 3d at such low res is very hard.
here is an example:
original texture (128x64)

Awful photoshop Upscale (1024x512)

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
ok, so this is pretty much how the bridge looks like (i need to polish a few things, like the sides but the walkway part is finished),

it took me 4 hours to do those f*cking staris, i ended up making each stone 3d, i wanted it to look 3d, and not just a texture.
i'm also working on the eye enemy found in the swamp and the 3rd sanctuary, it's still in very alpha thou...

(yes, i know that the iris is much much smaller in the original, i'm trying to fix it.

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Very nice work!
Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Looks amazing. I can only imagine the entire game having so much detail
Good luck with the project.

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
i will try my best!! Although i'm not that skilled in blender...
I also wanna ask something, if someone can send me the 3D models and the worlds of Rayman 2 (Ps2 version if possible) it would speed things up tremendously.

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
I think you're doing great already! It's going to be tough, but I know you guys will do your best! I look forward to seeing this.
Re: Rayman 2 Remake
If I could help I would but I have no experience in working on 3D models. Of all the stuff I've done with computers I've never got into that yet but I kind of want to.
Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Then start!! my only advice is to download blender (it's free and open source) and to start with simple things, they are thousands of yt tutorials that help you a lot, (actually that's how i started)
It's dificult to do 3D modeling, but it's superfun

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
new asset!!
this time i decided to do the Wooden Boxes, it took me longer than i expected, since i ended up discovering that they use the same texture for the 6 sides, so instead i ended up creating a new one that strongly resembles what we would find in Rayman 2 instead.

and here it's the "final" asset

the center looks a little off, i will polish it as soon as posible

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Looking good
I'll have to give Blender a try when I'm not doing anything else.

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
By the way, i know i have said it multiple times, but if someone could send me the ripped assets of rayman 2, like this, in a single .obj file, it would speed up things tremendously, since creating them from scratch can be really hard and time consuming

i would do it myself but, it seems that 3D ripper and NinjaRipper don't rip them acurately, 3D ripper doesn't launch with rawtool and in Rayman 2 it ends up ripping a distorted models.
Ninja Ripper ends up ripping the models in 2D rather than 3D, and i can't seem to solve it.
I also tried with a N64 rom but again, geometry is wrong, and i can't seem to find a solution.
Citra also refuses to work, my assumtion is that they don't use DirectX and instead use OpenGl, so it doesn't work.
Ps2 completely refuses to work with both of them even at directX11 which is the best one for ripping with NinjaRipper, gonna try an older version.
i'm alos gonna try with DeMul (a DreamCast emulator), since it uses DirectX11 it should not give me problems, but i don't have high hopes.
so please, if someone could send me the models i would greatly appriciate it.
thanks

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Did you get ninja-deleted?
Anyway, if you haven't already seen it, szymski ripped some geometry: viewtopic.php?t=25072

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
holy SHIT seriously? i'm super fucking stupid...
thanks mate!!
Okey, now that i have geometry i will try out to do some concept designs with unity, just to see how would newer models compare to the old geometry overall, i will post a link in later when i have a working prototype, it shouldn't take long.

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
I'm sure Rycer will come by at some point. In the meantime, you're doing a great job, so keep it up! I'm sure he'll be happy to see that the work is still continuing.

It was a thing ever since deleting posts was a thing in my assumption
Re: Rayman 2 Remake
it seems blender has problems importing szymski ripped models...
In the end i ended up using Noesis to reconvert them to .Dae, and i have to do it one by one, so it will take longer than usual.
Once converted, they do show up in blender. (without textures but that it's an easy fix)
i will test lighting and new models for the first level of the game, i will continue to post my progress here as i continue.
i also decided to share my work and source code, i will do it as soon as i have a working prototype.
Meanwhile here is a sneek peek of what to expect from the prototype:
the new bridge asset is in place

Note: textures are not final and are just a simple upscale, i intent to reconstruct them from scratch to make them justice, but for now you will have to deal with an upscale TT
i also had to create a skybox, Since this level doesn't actually use as skybox, but rather some kind of parallax scrolling?? (it's super weird, i actually never noticed unitl i played the 3ds version on an emulator:

Re: Rayman 2 Remake
Okey, so a little update:
The Unity Prototype i'm doing *WILL NOT BE PLAYABLE*, i'm having a lot of trouble with collisions, so right now i'm focusing on lighting and to integrate the new assets.
That means that you will only be able to explore the map, but not as a playable character like rayman, but rather like an omnipresent being that can fly and explore at will and stuff.
sorry about the inconvinience.
