Huge bump.

I improved my score today in The Bog of Murk and got like over 34K I guess? (my previous score on that level being 31436)

Nice work! As I said, any improvement like that just means you're getting better.

I should get back to the game too, but I really think I'll have trouble improving, especially after going so long without playing.

So....it's been awhile since I posted something here, but this time they're my REAL scores. I did this on the PC version bc it's the one I'm most comfortable with (and it's also the only one I actually own lol).

FC: 33608
CF: 88622
BOM: 58063
TLOTLD: 107189
DOTK: 103915
TLS: 40980
SBTC: 76805
HH: 97162
TOTL: 94702
Total Score: 701046

I guess considering how long I used Dolphin and savestates to play, I actually expected to not do as well, so I pretty much shot my expectations out of the water there. :P

Now that I've actually finished the game I want to go back and do the stages again tbh when I have time. I am certain I can improve nearly all the scores I've made with even more practice (and restarting). Although I won't start using SJs yet until I'm certain I've done the best I can without them.
Maz wrote: Fri Nov 23, 2018 3:42 pm Had to unexpectedly reset my PC, so my savefiles were lost :oops2:

Now that I have to start fresh, I'll also spend the next couple of weeks/months building up a nice Score again. And for the heck of it, I'll first see how far I can get with no IPGs; I'm pretty confident that this time around, I can get the 900k without them.
I haven't checked here in a long time so excuse me if this is late, but I'm sorry about your savefiles. Considering you're a pro though, I'm certain that you will get those scores back, and maybe even higher if that's possible. :)

I do want to replay it on PC and see if I can do better than I did on Xbox, but well done on breaking 700k legitimately.

Edit: SJ's are perfectly legal, much more legal than save states, so work away. :D

I believe the max scores for each level on the wiki are badly outdated, would anyone be so kind as to provide me with the latest ones? Or you can edit the articles directly if you feel like it. :)

The problem is that a) many max scores are theoretical figures and b) there's levels where we don't know the maximum yet (i.e. a [final] Combo has yet to be optimized). I would gladly provide the highest known scores to you, but I doubt that THAT would be of much use :oops2:

A theoretical max score is just fine, I believe the wiki already states one for SBTC. As for the rest, well the current max score will do, after all we can always update it when the combo is improved. :)

Alright, I edited the scores to match what I think are currently the maximum scores. Some of them might be subject to change in the near future, but for now it should be pretty accurate.

I noticed I went down a place in HoF, but I don't think I'll be able to do much better than my current score, especially since it's been a while now. I'll get around to trying to improve one day, but even if I never do, I'm still pretty happy with my current score, considering I was so late to the game.

I'm playing rayman 3 again recently, and I'm trying to get a decent score by following the awesome guides here. However I'm stuck in the bog of murk: in the long combo, I need the hoodblaster to survive in the opening act, but he never survives, even after probably 50-100 tries. Does anyone have any idea why?

The same thing happened me on Xbox, he just wouldn't survive it no matter how much I tried, so I just gave up. I never managed to string the entire combo together either, so I had to just settle for some smaller combos and managed to get the green gem for 9k.

Play with an AMD Ryzen 3000 processor to poison the RNG so he always survives! :fou:

Seriously though, that's strange. If you tried 100 times, I think he should be surviving with a better rate than that. :? I'm pretty sure someone posted the probability once, but I can't think where. :oops2: I can say that out of all the times I've played Rayman 3 in my life (surely in double digits by now), he's survived twice, maybe three times.

Maybe I should try.

I've never seen him survive at all, I spent about an hour restarting the level on Xbox but he never even survived once. I don't recall trying it for very long on PC though.

Oh so maybe it’s actually that long!

I will try on the PC version that I’ll be able to play since I found how to fix the game pad not working, as I read Better Rayman 3 should fix that issue.

I used Dolphin to still be able to use a gamepad but save states are a very bad habit.
So far I managed 97k in TOTL reading the guide, without using any glitches yet. I’ll have a hard time reaching that without the save states though.

I will aim for 600k which should be easy with the guides as I was 559k back then without, and then 700k. (On PC without save state).
Should be a goal of moderate difficulty that doesn’t take too long!

I'd definitely recommend leaving The Bog Of Murk until last when you're already happy with your other scores, it's a nightmare of a level when it comes to scoring for many reasons. That part you're talking about with the hoodblaster is one thing, but then there's the Razoff glitch and the thing with the cannonball too.

I'm not sure why the hoodblaster won't survive in our cases though, MandM81 actually played on Xbox and he's the one who wrote the guide.

Well, if you restart from a savestate then that's your problem – the RNG state isn't reset if you use a savestate. You need to restart the game cleanly when you're at BOM3.

Oh so they're just practicing with states. That likely means it's the GameCube version and they'll have to keep going back to the main menu, since there's no "Load" option, only a useless "Save" option instead, despite the game autosaving anyway. :fou:

It’s the Dolphin GameCube version until I install better Rayman.
Well I tried exiting / loading and then I tried saving stats before loading before it was a bit less long, but in both states it seemed like potential new RNG seeds because the hoodblaster died differently.

Yeah I might no do the full guide but atm it’s 25k + 8/9 cages so even half assed combos will be better.

I searched the topic and found this, in case it could be of any use:

It's a little bit unfair for non-PC-Players, but I think they're okay with it as it's not a very great advantage.
