I have spotted on eBay unrecorded complete demo of Rayman 1 for PC at a low price. It comes from the US, so I can not buy it but if anyone from the community would be interested in getting it, it would be great to share information.

I would have taken the plunge on it, but I've already spent my money on PC parts.

Well PC is region free, but the P&P and/or import charges might be a little unreasonable.

EDIT: I'd likely be paying €16 just for P&P. :(

Yeah, this might be slightly exaggerated.

Maybe that's how the playtesters felt, and the marketing guys heard them say it and repeated it as fact.

I'm sure those moths/grasshoppers/crickets/whatever gave them a hard time...

Yes, that's probably what they meant! God, they're "crual" all right, as the Rayman Designer translators called them!

Maybe they mean those, the ring pirate, and Mr. Skops.

In the demo Carrot wrote about in the wiki this morning, it appears that the giant floating present was meant to be accessed just like the other six worlds. For some reason, it was kept in the PlayStation and Jaguar versions, but eventually removed in the PC version, most likely because it served no purpose. Now I wonder what it was originally meant to be.

That's amazing! :o Nice to see another demo at such an early development stage, and on a different platform to boot! I wonder if there's one for PC floating around…

That's so weird seeing the bigger nenuphars falling. The first thing I wondered was whether Rayman could still do the handstand.

The levels are entirely new too. I doubt they were made just for the demo, so they must be actual levels from an early version of the game?

Another noteworthy detail is that spiky platforms and spiders appear in the Blue Mountains, like Rayman Designer, but unlike the original game, where they only appear in the Caves of Skops.

Yes, I noticed that too, along with the falling stone slab that Rayman can stand on – in the final game, the only slab in the Blue Mountains is the one being pulled by weights.

The demo looks like a beta. Pretty strange for something actually released to the public. I guess there are more Japanese Rayman demos but information about Asian magazines are not so widespread as European or American.

If my company weren't belt-tightening, I'd be heading over there on another business trip next month, and I could sniff around. :tssk: :fou:

Well, Rayman Junior has all that stuff too, and it came before Designer.

Makes me wonder if red antitoons and spiky balls were ever meant to be included in the original game then.

There's a thought... I think it should be theoretically possible to change an antitoon's hitpoints in the original game using Cheat Engine, to see if it becomes invincible and deadly. That would be a good indication.
