I've always played the game with a keyboard and I remember having a hard time with the part where you must ride a plum around spots of yellow lava.
It was an endless gauntlet. x_x That's why I feel like I might take more kindly to the ps2 version cuzza the controls.

Speaking of which, I see that the PS2 and PC versions are now on an equal footing in the poll!

I want to know. How do you find the walking shell part in the 'Wrong Temple' of that particular level?

raymanHUN wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 10:15 pm None that I know of, but in the translation thread someone linked to a website with an unofficial translation, that also contains some voice acting.
I think there are various websites where you can download Rayman 2 in russian, I wonder if it is possible to extract the localization file from there.

Edit: I found this, sorry if the link has already been posted before https://www.old-games.ru/wiki/Rayman_2: ... %BA%D0%B8)

I found it on accident but where the fruit grows right next the the lava river, instead of using the fruit to go to the right where the lavas flowing, push to the left and wind through a cavern. Theres a whole other section of the level before the shell part. The shell part is a test of your patience tho. Especially on a keyboard.

The keyboard has nothing to do with the difficulty of the two sections you mentioned. They are a bit annoying, but a controller doesn't make it easier. You guys just suck at using a keyboard (most console players do).

Yeah. The same thing happened to me with other players: I'm better at controlling the character with a controller while I find it worse to control it on a keyboard.

I regularly play pc games. Most would agree 3d platformers are best suited to controllers.

Because most 3D platformer players are console players that never learned to use a keyboard. :)

I would honestly pick a controller over a keyboard anytime (well not for strategy games...), except if it's about Rayman 2. I grew up playing this game with a keyboard, and it just became part of it's charm for me.

Also, yeah, there wasn't too many 3D platformers on PC back in the day, so I guess that's why most people prefer controllers for them over keyboard? I mean it'd make sense.

I much prefer controllers for 3D platformers because the analog sticks have many more directions instead of being limited to 8.

It's true that they do, but this kind of analog precision is almost never required. Definitely not in Rayman 2. Possibly in Rayman 3 for very precise comboing.

And, in any case, when you see people complain about keyboard being worse than a controller in platformers, they rarely think about analog precision. Mostly they think about the fact that they prefer to use their thumb, rather than 3 fingers for the directional controls.

Well that coupled with tapping the A key to jump and the spacebar to attack can be really clunky for some. Plus using ctrl to strafe didnt always work right.

Oh, something else that bothers me about the PS2 version, you can't revisit The Cave of Bad Dreams once you beat it unlike in the other versions.

Controllers have just always been a preference for me really, there's nothing wrong with the keyboard if it's what you're used to.

Ctrl, A, Spacebar is not a common control scheme for games, and not one that I prefer, but when you think about it, it is not so far-fetched. The three keys form a triangle, and they are sufficiently spaced apart to prevent hitting one over the other accidentally, yet not too far out of reach. Depending on how big one's hand is, it seems natural either to use pinky, middle finger and thumb (like hitting a simple triad on a piano), or ring, middle and index fingers (for big-handed folks).

The original Windows version of Rayman 2 is the one I played first, and within a couple of levels, the controls felt natural enough to not think about them. One thing that I always forget to mention is that you need a better-than-rock-bottom keyboard, because the worst keyboards out there may jam if 3 keys are pressed at the same time.

I mean the keyboard controls are totally doable. Just not ideal is all

I can understand since there is nothing to collect such as lums and smashing cages is absent in that place. There is no particular reason for revisiting but unless you want to be there for the scenery. That is something to be wished for.
