Makes sense I guess,
Hunchman801 wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 7:04 pm I'm with you on that one. I feel that the problems of the PS2 version are not counterbalanced by the improvements it brings, and overall the game feels more messy and less complete.
Yeah this is always how I felt about it. I don't like the issues it has with the framerate, and it has a few annoying bugs. The helicopter sound looping for example, or the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire freezing (twice in a row :mefiant:). While I think the Hub World is a cool concept, I really don't like its layout since it's literally like a maze. You would spend more time finding the next level than you would actually completing the level.

As for the mention of the Wiki, I really need to get around to working on RayWiki again.

I remember the game freezing too, this was particularly annoying! But the worst was probably mixing up the sanctuaries. :P

I'm not sure which version to vote for between the Playstation 2 and Dreamcast ones. 😅

I would still say Rayman Revolution is superior when it comes to additional content. 😉

They sure did mix up a lot.

Yeah I sure will! I still want to finish fixing up the Origins articles and adding the rest of the relics.

Revolution does have its perks too I guess, but I kind of favour the original personally. Don't get me wrong though, Revolution is pretty nice in some ways since it changes things up a little, but I just choose the original as my preference, and I like Dreamcast for the extra enemies and Globox Village.

EDIT: Speaking of mixing up, I really messed up this post. :oops2:

Agreed. Both versions have their downsides, but the original one is better. 🙂

Even the PS1 version is interesting, because while it has the worst graphics and terrible voice acting, it still has some cool stuff such as the Rayman 2 2D Prototype.

I think the PS1 team did a great job at adapting Rayman 2 to the console. They even managed to include a lot of additional content which I found pretty cool.

If someone wants to play Rayman 2 or 3 again with recent HD texture mods and/or Reshade with widescreen mod, but finds it boring after those years, because mostly everyone here played it dozens of times -
I strictly recommend playing on a TV from a distance of ~15 cm -
at best - using the same desk for a TV and keyboard/pad.
Completely different game. I tell you.
Keyword - immersion!
You feel the game like never before.
Maybe it's not VR, but something absolutely new playing this game.
Also TVs have usually frame interpolation (so called 500/1000Hz technologies) so with disabled PC mode (usually non-game modes), and in cost of slight input lag, it makes the game much smoother than on locked 60 FPS in these games.
Just feeling of this smoothness may be worth of it.
It completely restored my love for these games after long and boring troubleshooting mods and game changes, playing the same levels again and again etc. Feeling of the fresh air.
I think 42" should enough, but up to 50" still shouldn't be bad.
The biggest 16:9 monitors have 32" (4K, QHD, even FHD) but you can also find much bigger 21:9 and 32:9 monitors. That might be pretty cool too, but I don't know whether any monitor with frame interpolation exist. Maybe one or two models if memory serves, and if any.

I'd consider giving this a try on my 55" OLED at some stage.

Good news, the level articles will look great once you're done with this.

55" OLED might be an overkill from such distance. In such situation it would be good to place TV on the most distant end of a desk. Only if it won't break anyhow.

I most certainly don't want it to break, OLEDs aren't cheap.

Idk if i asked this before but
Why does the foutch boss crash on Rayman 3D if you use the hack/mod/overclock/whatever to boost the fps on new 3ds

That's technically explainable. There must be reason under the hood in the code.
E.g. in Rayman Revolution, turning on speedhacks caused infinite cutscenes.
Though it's different engine.

Yeah it was always Foutch for me too. I normally would just disable the hack to play Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava.

Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2020 2:06 pm You might remember that in Report N° 20Z from the old Rayman 2 website, Ly was said to dress like the People of Prhys.

However, I recently noticed that in the French version, it is "peuple des Prhys", which could mean "Phrys people" or possibly "people of the Phrys" (Phrys being plural here). The difference is interesting, as the English version kinda implies that Prhys is a place, while the French one makes it sounds like Prhys is the name of the people in question (or possibly a plural location, like "the Lakes").

Not a very useful peace of information, but still food for thought. :hap:
Actually, disregard this. I eventually found out that the French version was a fan translation, not the official stuff.
