Yeah it seemed they were really lazy with R2, they definitely reused assets from the first gbc game, including the music. Razorbeard is only ever seen in cutscenes I think and isn’t even the final boss which made the game off-putting.

Yeah I think they were much more lazy with this game than even the GBC R1 game.
I don't think they were lazy at all with that one, it's actually a pretty good game for the GBC.

Yeah it was a pretty decent game. I enjoyed the Mr. Dark fight (which couldn’t be done in any other official version) and Dark Legacy, oddly enough.

He's probably thinking of R2 GBC then, that's the one that was criticised a lot for just reusing assets from R1 GBC. Even the music was the same for the most part if I recall correctly.
Yeah, we were comparing the two actually.

Arguably the best Mr Dark fight of all versions!

Every time I tried to 100% this version, I lost the password in the end. :P

Oh yeah, that password system was annoying. At least you can always use passwords from the internet when you lose yours. :P

Can agree about R2 for GBC being potentially the worst Rayman 2 game of all versions. For everything Jonster said.

It looks a lot like R1 GBC but for some reason it felt a loot poorer. Maybe because the levels are too similar to each other, there's only two robo-pirates and no proper final boss?

Yeah, it's either the GBC version or the DS version that are just plain the worst to me. Neither of them I would be inclined to play again (I've already played through both once).

The GBC version of Rayman 2 did have the backup battery to actually save, but the game itself, I could never really get into. I tried a few times, but I always just got bored after a few levels.

I suppose you're referring to Redemption, but I haven't reached Mr Dark yet. I'll let you know what I think!

I wonder if they wanted to "redo" R2 on the GBA because they thought and knew that the GBC version was so underwhelming
But of course they decided to mishmash R2 and R3 plots to create R3 GBA in the end.

Maybe the 3DS version. It is poorly ported Dreamcast version with the minor but still visible graphical and audio problems along with the fps freeze drops that makes the whole playthrough uncomfortable sometimes.
It's still a solid experience, but yea... not a fan of it.

Not that solid if you try to get the 1000th Lum and freeze the game :tssk:

Never discovered the freezing, but for sure the way to get the 1000th Lum is definitely one of the broken parts of that port.

You can glitch yourself past the broken web but then the game freezes when you pass the Lum. So presumably they discovered the freeze and deactivated the web to try to prevent people from triggering it. Instead of, you know, actually fixing it :boon:
